I have been down a Joan of Arc rabbit hole for a while now, and I think my conclusion is that while there are so many tragic elements to the story, that it is ultimately a story about hope, and moral, both of which she delivered with superhuman magnitude to her people. She was a teenage peasant girl that took up arms, rode into the thick of battle, and rallied the armies of France to do what needed to be done. She should have never been allowed to roam the countryside with her own command after Charles was crowned, and Charles bears the majority of the blame for her fate in my opinion. Whether you believe her revelations, or not, she was used to a tragic extent. She was a brave woman, and a hero to France.

What most people do not realize is that the movie is not portraying the book series, it is a continuation of Roland’s NEXT pass heading back to the tower yet again

I read the book, and seen the movie over 100 time's. The movie is so much better than the book. Especially the ending. Not to mention there is so much unrelated crap in the book from the Mafia, to adultery it gets to be a boring read real quick. The movie cut all that crap out and stuck to the main plot about the shark, and the people of Amity it is 100% better than the book.

Name and marital status please. Cute young woman. Height please. Appears to be built like Joan of Arc. Joan was 5 feet 2 inches tall, a couple inches shorter than Karen Carpenter (Carpenters lead vocalist/drummer 1969-1983). Was Karen the return of Joan? Probably, although Karen said she was the return of Mary Magdalene [who I understand to be Joan of Arc's divine identical twin sister.]. Was Joan the virgin Greek goddess Iris, personal Messenger of Zeus (Jesus) and his wife Hera (Maria Magdalena)? Probably. Joan's motto was "JESUS MARIA" (ZEUS HERA?). Joan controlled Mother Nature or she was Mother Nature. Joan controlled the winds and waters and animals, and even gravity it appears. ARC is not where Joan was from on earth. She was from the village of Domremy. ARC is synonymous with IRIS and RAINBOW.

NOTES: 1) Mel Brooks movies fly ALWAYS, especially when you understand what goes into them. It's only when modern comedy writers try to horn in that they start to sag. Case in point, The Producers musical, which was just okay compared with the original, and History of the World part 2, which was painfully disappointing. 2) Few people know this, but Blazing Saddles was co-written by black comedian Richard Pryor. Brooks actually had strong reservations about the rampant use of the N word, but Pryor insisted on it. "This is a movie about racism; the word stays." - Pryor 2b) Everyone may not find farts funny in and of themselves, but they are a common human flaw, which you never see on glorified Hollywood images such as cowboys; that's what makes the scene funny. 3) Mel Brooks, born Melvin Kosminsky, is Jewish, which gives him the green light to rip on Jewish stereotypes. He also fought in WWII, and has said that when we stop being able to ridicule nazis, they can regain power as sacred cows. If you haven't already seen To Be or Not To Be, I highly recommend it. 4) Spaceballs is my second least favorite Mel Brooks picture, after Life Stinks. Just saying.

NOTES: 1) two good-to-know facts about Slimer: his original name was "Onionhead" as the creators envisioned him smelling strongly of onions, and also that his final look was inspired by the recently deceased John Belushi, and his behavior reminiscent of Belushi's character Bluto from Animal House. 2) Taxi Driver is the De Niro film you are referencing; Taxi! was the sitcom starring Danny Devito and Andy Kaufman. De Niro's characters name was Travis Bickel. 3) This one is just speculation on my part regarding the train tunnel scene in GB2, but since Vigo the Carpathian was sort of an amalgamation of the likes of Rasputin and Vlad the Impaler, it makes sense that he would summon the residual energy of a railway massacre to conjure the image of severed heads on spikes to scare off those who would thwart his plans for resurrection and conquest. That being said, it doesn't make quite as much sense to assume the ability of moviegoers to think that deeply

This movie was absolute garbage. The girls and I saw it in the theatre, and we (unintentionally) drove people out with our laughter. I couldn't help riffing it. It was such low-hanging fruit. I've only seen two entries in this film franchise, but do people actually believe these turkeys are based on true events?! They'd have to be dumber than a plaster dildo.

In a real situation, Edmond would never forget that Mercedes was his enemy's wife. It was a miracle he didn't get revenge on her and Albert in the book, Reading the Annals of Tacitus, I read about Princess Booudicca's revenge against the Romans for the tortures she and her daughters faced. Even the city of Londinium was burned in the revolt against Rome. Boudicca's anger against Rome caused her to destroy and burn a city with the population there. It is much more likely that he directed his anger at Mercedes and Albert for being Fernand's wife and son. That he wants to destroy everything related to Fernand. I miss Haydee being more cold and vengeful, she also wanting to get revenge on Fernand's family for the death of her family and for his years as a slave in the book. Anger makes you do destructive things and revenge is not clean and will lead to tragic situations. Happy endings only in Hollywood films.

When it comes to movies and what gets put up on the screen from source material, you'll always find the disclaimer in the main title sequence. Something called Based Upon the Book by...... How many books have Hollywood adapted that barely ever looks like the film projected to the audience. You'll be hard pushed to see a film even come close to the source material. Andrew Birkin's screenplay to The Final Conflict is far worse than the book. Some people thought the book lacked depth, but the film has a very one-dimensional setup. The actors are left to pick up a weak script and try to breathe life into screenplay. Another reason the book was probably never followed was the unsettling tone. UK censors would've had a field day. You can certainly see that in the UK with the BBFC as a state run organisation with films from early to late 1970s. Even with the early 1980s around the corner, scenes with a baby having an iron slapped across its face would have been censored by the BBFC.
