the greatest part of "jaws" was the psychology feel, you never really saw it, until it was too late...that eerie feeling anytime you go in the ocean, anyway. you can see above the water for a long distance but you really have no idea what or where anything is under the water..until its too late. nowadays any shark movie, they show it all the time, no matter if its close or far or supposedly sneaking up.. maybe they surprise you once or twice, but in "jaws" the music fux w/ your senses no other movie can or does.

The book kinda sucks honestly. Hooper dying doesn’t bother me at all but if I remember correctly he has an affair with Brody’s wife, which adds nothing to the story. One good thing the book does add though is that it explains that the mayor is somehow involved with the mafia, which partly explains why he wants to keep the beaches open no matter what. He needs to keep money flowing in, so he can pay off whatever trouble he’s into. Eventually he relents after so many people die though. Some of those book details might be wrong. It’s been forever since I read it.

My brother was 5 years older than me. As kids we saw Jaws. In college we went to a theater & quoted all the lines like "Rocky Horror" & everyone hated us......Pippet, Larry, Chrissy, silva the harbor Master, Bruce the shark.....whenever there was a anniversary or it was on cable I called my brother. He passed away last month. In his honor I'm all in on this be/ Matt Hooper is in it.....Miss you Kev!!!!

They cannot defeat Jaws but some new shark movies are also cool like deep blue sea, the meg and the shallows. They have their own spotlight.I'm also looking forward to the up coming movie "maneater". As I watch the trailer, it's not cheap and boring but dark and gorry... But honestly, some of the new shark movies are actually boring and low quality when it comes to visual effects. Some of it is not realistic too. Like for example, sandsharks, snow sharks and ice sharks, they are cheap and boring. In my opinion in malibu shark, it can be awesome but the problem is its visual effects. I find it boring and cheap. Though it's gorry and brutal.

Jaws 1 felt real and was so relatable in sense of how they went after jaws. Now there’s helicopters and missiles. Keep a little realistic feel to jaws trilogy’s , that’s why we have the Meg movie for fun

You're right, this looks ridiculous. Keep it basic, keep it real. That's why the original stands the test of time. Three men on a boat, using their wits and guile to overcome a real world predator. This looks like another Meg movie, where size of the armaments, explosions and size of the shark is all they care about. I'm not going to bother with it. They should make a Jaws movie about the events the followed the sinking of the USS Indianapolis. In which numerous numbers of shark are at play, not even Great Whites, mostly Oceanic Whitetips, keep it authentic. The movie Spielberg had in mind for Jaws 2. That's a movie I'd pay to watch.

Later in life, Peter Benchley admitted he greatly regretted writing JAWS because of the fear and slaughter it brought afterwards. Speilberg felt much the same. Not only does this movie look terrible, but JAWS never needed sequels and needs a reboot even less.

I was really hoping this film was actually already in the can and just awaiting a release date. But if any studio execs get any ideas....Matt Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) is a must. And Willam Macy and Willem Dafoe should also be in this thing. Bringing back an even more terrifying and creepy Bruce (the original animatronic shark) would be even traumatic now with CGI. And the score to this is as famous as the original JAWS movie poster. The original film was the first ever "Blockbuster" movie and set the standard for box-office sales every since. A well written, directed, and cast version paying homage to the original is long overdue....but not a remake. We need a completely new storyline and some keen insight as to how advanced technology is still no match for an Apex predator like a great white shark. Everything old is new AGAIN. C'mon people, LET'S MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!

@@courtneymagnuson3756 God no. The original Jaws book abd movie was based on actual shark facts and knowledge not fantasy. That is why the first movie works and none of the others did. It was terrifying because it was plausible and didn't insult or offend viewer intelligence.

Fear of the unknown is the best kept secret to the greatest scary movies. Shark movie producers can’t seem to replicate that now. The expression on Roy Scheider’s face as he walked backwards on the Orca after seeing a glimpse of the shark when he was chumming unleashed the primal fear in the audience. We knew that shark looked fake. But Chief Brody was a “parent”. He was “dad”. He was a leader. And when he got scared to death …….well that’s enough for the audience to be scared to death.

That's because Spielberg didn't tell him that was going to happen. Scheider wasn't thinking, "The shark is still out there," because he was too distracted by the smelly chum.

Sequels usually don't live up to original movies. I hope the makers of this movie did this movie well. The original JAWS was excellent and it kept a lot of people out of the ocean for a while. I was one of those people.

Someone needs to tell Dreyfus, Arnold, Stallone, Harrison Ford, to stop beating a dead horse. Make a Grumpy old Men or Cocoon reboot if you want. But we’re over the 70ish year old action heroes. I’m 50. I can’t tie my laces and breathe at the same time.

A real Jaws movie would be distributed by Universal Studios, not by Warner Bros. because Universal owns the Jaws franchise. Also, Warner Bros.'s parent company is no longer called Time Warner, it changed to WarnerMedia in 2018, then changed its name again to Warner Bros. Discovery when the WarnerMedia and Discovery Inc. completed 2 months ago.

I have a tendency to believe the first comment I read the original jaws was just that the original the first one made about a killer shark over the years. They’ve come up with dozens of shark movies, which was nothing but a ripoff of the original jaws Steven Spielberg did an outstanding job. He had a vision when he made that film and it will never be duplicated to this day or ever. I’m sure the new shark movie with Richard Dreyfuss will be entertaining, but it probably will not be as good as the original 1975 blockbuster.

Look good, that old man backkk. He was in Jaw part 1. He know lot about shark is too aggressive and dangerous. I'm going to watch this movies. I did watch Jawa 1, 2, 3, 4 and now is new jaws part 5..I love to watch shark movies. Mega 1 and 2 are very good..
