Road Blocked During Rush Hour Traffic By Train! Train Right Next To Restaurant At Busy Highway Railroad Crossing In The City! Circleville, Ohio Trains! Look how close the train is to this Hardees Restaurant ! 4 locomotives including a Union Pacific Railroad locomotive are doing railroad switching for a grain elevator owned by Cargill. 2 of the 4 locomotives were broke down with the UP unit totally dead according to the engineer. I heard the engineer tell the dispatcher that the two units needed servicing and they asked to set them out in Circleville after they worked the grain spur. I went to Circleville with @1960gambit and we got there just as the grain train was arriving. They picked a bad time to set off the cars since it was at rush hour and at the main railroad crossing in town. Most cars turned around but a few actually waited the whole time. We also see a very old railroad crossing signal that still works. Next we see a few pieces of railroad maintenance of way equipment passing the crossing. What is this stuff? Leave a comment below please. We also see Chessie, Norfie and we have a slide that pertains to this video. Best frequencies are 161.190 and 452.9375. At 12:22 there is a guy standing next to the train with a cowboy hat. He is a motorist who got out of his car to see why the train is stopped. His car is the front car in line in the high speed lane. He was talking to a guy in a pickup truck next to him. They met while waiting for the train and had a bonding experience. Lol

The strain of the pain caused by the train trying to spot the grain. I've seen numerous towns in Iowa where the elevator puts up barricades when grain trains are loading so that motorists know to detour. Looks like Hardees got a special on used ties as they separate their lawn from the NS ROW. This scene brings a personal touch of sadness in that the last of three large malt operations in West Milwaukee has closed and will be demolished. From when I was a small child you could hear the freight cars being coupled as well as the constant drone of conveyor belts and electric motors turning the piles of roasting malt. Also the perpetual odors wafting thru the neighborhood that was like a mixture of cereal and the occasional scorched batch. The CNW Alcos and MILW FMs tackled the switching 24 hours a day and now CPs largest customer in town is leaving. When demolished The Neighbors will actually see a regular sunset that wasn't blocked by 3:00 p.m. by the silos. So goodbye old friend and we'll miss the sign facing Lincoln Avenue that proudly proclaimed for years. "Better Beer. 🍺 Starts Here" Thanks for capturing the spirit of grain season JT

More awesome action by JT. Having a busy crossing next to a grain silo and then having a grain train spotting cars for loading can cause headaches for drivers, especially during rush hour. I m with Scott that was the slowest train I ever saw. Cool location as well, too bad that Hardee’s didn’t have tables and chairs out there that would’ve been perfect. Love Norfie and Chessie, what a pair. Thanks for sharing JT. You and Scott take care.

Great shots! Chessie really adores her papa. Our furry friends are gifts God gives us. I have to admit, that is the longest wait time I have ever witnessed just waiting for a train to clear a crossing! Of course, in Maine, where I worked for the Maine Central Railroad, the only grain silos I saw were at a couple of grain dealers, using the silos to sell grain to farmers! We would deliver railroad grain hopper cars to those few trackside silos!

It's amazing what the railroads use for power when it comes to switching nowdays. On the Milwaukee Road a local scoot would bring up the loads at the beginning of the week and a patrol crew would pick up all the empties and dead engines at the end of the week. The scoot power was usually one of the FM switchers or a barely functional GP7 but even F units were used. Once they used an F7 B unit with the engineer operating from the hostlers position! Thanks for some good switching action.

The crew took its time moving the train of covered hopper cars to get it to the point where they were going to cut the train. I would have thought that they could have moved the train faster. After they cut the cars, they could have moved slower once they were across the street crossing to the switch, they were going to use to spot the cars. They know what they are doing and how to do their job the best and safest way. I just watch what they are doing and marvel at what they do. Nice catch of this train in Circleville, Ohio, Jaw Tooth!

Other than these grain trains though we do get plenty of trains. Intermodel and manifest trains are common on this line as well. I'd say we get at least 10 trains a day. I remeber one day a few weeks back we got 6 trains in an hour and half. That would've made one heck of a good video

Great vid. I enjoyed the grain train, view of the silos and the MOW racing by. Someday I would love to see the silos with the sun directly on them. My layout will be a shortline with at least one silo / grain action.

That would be cool! I love grain silos and coal load outs. Those are my favourites

this channel is so relaxing. I used to live close to some tracks in ohio and I miss that sound at night.

Glad you enjoy it! I look for interesting stuff. Living by the tracks would be so awesome to hear a train at random times and be surprised by it

Damn, I sure wish you’d post your schedule man. You know how many times you’re literally right under my nose? Lol That Hardee’s is good and so is the Rax on the other end of town! Lol

I am a BIG Railfan ! That being said, railroads can, and do disrupt vehicle traffic whenever they please quite often. Many times, their switching and car placement moves seem to take forever, appearing to be made to intentionally piss off motorists waiting at the crossings.

As much as I love trains, it would really suck to be stuck that long in traffic because of one.
Magic trick 🪄😁
