People Walk In Front Of Steam Train As Canadian National Train Passes With 2 DPUs At 2 Track Railroad Crossing In Iowa. Empress Steam Train Snaking Along Flooded Mississippi River Following Canadian Pacific Railway Train With Mid Train DPU. Both Sides Of Final Spike Steam Tour Train. Includes Iowa Interstate Train Crossing Double Deck Bridge Over Mississippi River Sample. Dubuque, Iowa To Marquette, Iowa On Canadian Pacific Kansas City Southern Railroad CPKC. This is the 3rd part of the Iowa series.
Starts in Dubuque, Iowa at the interchange wye. A Canadian National Railway train with 2 DPU locomotives shoving the rear was passing the railroad crossing. Just as the freight train cleared the crossing we see the Final Spike Steam Tour train approaching. People walked around the gates right across the double track crossing without looking. Thankfully the train was back but I bet the people got a little surprise. They didn't seem impressed by the Empress steam locomotive. I filmed it from an abandoned railroad industrial spur right of way. I need to come back and check this area out. There is a lot of interesting railroadinia in Dubuque. This looks like a must see for railfans.
Then we go to Buena Vista, Iowa right along side the flooded Mississippi River. There are reverse curves here and the water is right up to the right of way. Notice the flooded streets in the video. A road actually goes through there and under the tracks but you can't see it. A long mixed freight with a mid train DPU comes snaking along the river. I love that shot of it! This area is really pretty and the residents were very nice.
The steam train can be see snaking along the river and passing a railroad crossing that is only protected by a bell and cross bucks! I filmed a couple crossings in Kentucky like that. We waited here a long time for the train, possibly an hour or two. It was well worth it.
Next, I am driving alongside the train. This part of Iowa is just beautiful! I never knew Iowa was so scenic. There are ridges and over looks where you can see for miles and miles and it's all farm land. I stopped in Marquette, Iowa which is just south of Minnesota and across the river from Wisconsin. (See my video from Wisconsin showing a flooded railroad line). There is a railroad wye right here in front of a motel. The track goes to Mason City and Britt where I filmed with Shoestring. I stood on the flood wall here to get a great shot of the train approaching as it is coming around a bend along the big Mississippi River. I like this area so much that I almost got a room in the motel facing the railroad. I was thinking of going to Mason City to film the electric traction railroad that I filmed a couple years ago.
I was able to film both sides of the train for this video and got some freight trains also. In the outro you will see the Iowa Interstate crossing a gigantic bridge over the Mississippi River. This is a sample from my Davenport, Iowa video that is really awesome! Check it out. I show the bridge up close with a train going over it and a train going under it. We also have the Live Action Pets and the slide show that comes from the video at the end.
Filmed Monday, July 1, 2024 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

Hi JT, That's my first Kansas City Southern DPU that I've seen on your videos 😊 Regarding people crossing the tracks without looking, in the county of west Sussex in England, they have just released a safety video showing people risking their lives at crossings just in this year alone !!! One girl was inches away from being hit by a train after doing exactly what you saw in your video ,crossing behind a train not looking, with a fast train coming the other way. 😢 It was frightening to watch. Take care out there Thanks,Jason

It was really nice to see your locations in context as it were, you did a great job and as you say, it was stunning! Good to see your Horse and cat too lol. Yes, that was fun hanging out and talking to him. I ran into him in several spots during the chase. It's always fun to hang out with other big KZfaq channels. I have been fortunate to run into most of my favorite KZfaqrs over the years

Somebody's yard is under water at the 5 to 6 minute mark of this video.
@JawTooth
@JawTooth Ай бұрын
Yes, that whole area is flooded. I didn't realise how bad it was until a guy who lives there told me that there are roads in that spot. I couldn't even tell. Roads are down there and one goes under the railroad tracks. All of those yards were under water from the flooding of the Mississippi River

I was just in Pittsburgh for 2 days. It's your kinda town. From my hotel , I saw 4 trains in two days. That was the quieter side of town. They have another line along another river that probably sees 10ish trains a day. Plus they have the incline you can ride. Could be a good next trip
