I was fortunate enough to have a season ticket at Bolton all his time there. An absolute wizard it still blows my mind remembering some of the things he did on the pitch. Always with a massive smile. Legend!

The smaller teams went for him faster than the stronger ones, to use him bridge their weakness and his job, based on team's strategy, was more of holding the ball and pulling opponents away from his team mates and by this creating space and chances for his team. Sometimes, when the team mates couldn't score yet, he also tried shooting from his positions as well to add to the chances of winning the match. He did a very vital job in the team and people today think he was just dribbling to show off and was ineffective because he didn't score so many goals. But the issue is that was basically the team's strategy and he was very disciplined and followed the instructions, going according to the coach's strategy against the big clubs.

If you ask any Nigerian till date who is the best player that have played in the national team he will tell you jay Jay. Till today Nigeria have not replaced him . You watch him play even if you didn't win the game you will feel happy going home because he will always do tricks that will make you happy. One of the best number 10 midfield

I love R9, but in 2002 Okocha was more deserved to win the ballon d’Or that year. But because he played for Bolton and didn’t win any trophies, R9 won it because of the World Cup & the whole comback storyline.
