Do you have to be a starving artist to be successful? Absolutely not! Jay Parnell not only works at UPS, but he is also a narrative painter. Parnell started out as a portrait photographer and then took those skills and taught himself how to paint. Parnell is now one of the most successful painters in the Midwest, and his work is sought after by collectors across the country.
How do you take the world we are now living in with movements such as Black Lives Matter or the political divisions across this country? Parnell may not be a writer, but he is telling his story and making a difference through each piece he creates.
We will continue to create Black Lives Matter educational resources throughout the year. More to come soon!

I love that he said he didn't want to be the poetic romantic artist, I was and am the same about being a musician. Great to hear it's a reality check for some. Having a job and fulfilling your passion does not make you less professional which is sometimes the vibe you get

Completely agree! I love Jay's story so much. So many artists think there is only one way to success, aka paint full-time. But, I would argue having a job as well not only provides financial security, but also gives your creative side a break. For me, stepping away from a painting or creative project often yields better results! Thanks so much for the feedback, and please be sure to share Jay's episode/story. More people need to hear it!

True artists realize how fleeting inspiration is, it can come and go so fast - having access to all the tools you need no matter where you are makes it so much easier. I get what he was saying about Prince being able to record in any room. This was so inspiring! Thank you😊

Glad you could relate to Jay! I loved his story and how he discussed the struggle of most artists out there. The hustle is real! Best of luck with all you are doing as an artist! Keep going!🙌👍

Feeling really good involves a consistent healthy diet, exercise and water. If you’ve had a bad day … consider what you ate yesterday and earlier today. People are surprised to see how they are linked.

Could NOT agree with you more! If I wasn't doing Artrageous, I would be a personal trainer. I'm at the gym or outdoors six days a week. What I eat along with exercise is what keeps me sane, manage stress, etc. Helps me also deal with the constant pressure of feeding the algorithm/subscriber button vs my mission to make learning something not suck;) Thanks for watching and the feedback!

Was looking for inspiration as I was painting a mural here in Indy and I saw this video. I clicked on it and you have a clip of me painting my mural during the 2020 protest. The mural is entitled “Take A Stand” it showed until September 2021 at the Indiana State Museum. I would love to connect!

I mean, you can have merch and not even have a YT channel. Honestly, I really don’t focus on it. Since I often animate and edit these episodes, I don’t have time anyway!
