Tom, one of the best parts of your interviews beyond the great guests, great questions and excellent camera work is the way you listen to your guests. You can honestly tell you are trying to learn from the guests and you are absorbing their knowledge and lessons. You are not taking their advice lightly and waiting to ask a question. You are genuinely listening. The energy is awesome!!! It's like you are NEO downloading information from Tank on the Nebuchadnezzar. Keep them coming!

You've added so much value to us, it's only fair that we give back. As a community, let's use what we learned from Jay Samit to get these people on Tom's show! :-)

the clarity with which he thinks about a persistent problem is amazing and has that thing that somewhat draws you to listen and listen with undivided attention. That look in his eyes when he says,"if all an entrepreneur's doing is solving problems, who is he solving them for", priceless. Thoroughly enriching.

Jay Samit's book is life altering. Good Choice by Impact Theory. Mr. Samit's way of thinking about problems and our future is extremely interesting. His segment about not wasting one's lifesaver me the chills. I read Disrupt You last year and I made some changes because of it. Sadly they did not stick. But, I just ordered the Kindle because my copy is back in the states and it just went to the top of my reading list. Mr. Bilyeu did an excellent job on the interview as always. The questions and topics took a lot of usable value from Jay. Great job to the team. Keep up the good work. Started on Episode 1 a few weeks or so ago. So I'll catch up soon enough. Will try to help you out as much as possible. Joining the league as long as my internet connection doesn't flip. Thank you!

This interview is packed filled with new information, most of the stuff I haven't heard before! I had to stop and take so many notes. This interview will have to be watched over and over, just like the Tim Ferriss interview. These are absolutely amazing and can be rewatched over and over for timeless wisdom and applicable knowledge. I love everything your doing to shake people up and more or less say, "Put the matrix to bed, wake up instead." (Matrix is your favorite movie, right? also taken from Wesley a bit : ) What you are doing is really beyond words, if anything all I can say is "synergy." synergy in knowledge ideas wisdom and community. The people you bring on all have interesting fuel to add to the bonfire of wisdom, really cool to see so many perspectives in one place and it all makes figuring things out easier... Also I cannot wait to see Elon freakin Musk on impact theory as that is someone on your interview list.

38:53 you have to learn how to communicate to those who are stuck in the past in a way that they can embrace future. This reminds me of Jocko Wiilink and his book Extreme Ownership where he talks about communicating down the chain of command and communicating up the chain of command and that if you were not getting the results you want for example in this case if the people who are in your organization that you need to accomplish a project are stuck in the past do not understand your vision of the future, it is your responsibility to do a better job communicating up to them or down to them depending on where you are in the organization.

There is one thing unique to his ideas. He was walking up to companies with ideas, and I kept thinking, "how come they just didn't take his idea and do it themselves? why did they pay him?" and the thing is, he was going to companies with ideas that were outside their core knowledge. They didn't know how to bridge their mileage points to buy music with it. They could have gone ti Apple with the idea themselves, but it is outside their sphere.

Tom nails the fundamental premise of Jay's operational style when he links it to Ryan Holiday's "The Obstacle is the Way"; Jay is a master a transforming barriers into bankable assets however two ideas came to mind whilst listening... I am confident that if I proposed Jay's early job-getting strategy (business cards and newspaper ads) to 1000 people, 999 would decline the strategy because it feels unethical - to post an non-existant job and inconvenience the applicants as well as fake a job to get another is something most people would not do. This leads to my next observation that Jay seems to have a high risk tolerance - "we'll just insure McDonalds ourselves". When you do your follow-up on this episode Tom, might you comment on risk tolerance and ethics in entrepreneurship? How unethical is too unethical in a forum like this that lords entrepreneurs to the point of perhaps overlooking their methods? I don't think Jay's early strategy is wicked just something many people wouldn't do and, in the absence of doing such a thing, most people would miss out on the early win this created in Jay's mind and spurred him on to later success - a quandary.
@TomBilyeu

Very interesting take! Thank you for sharing! And I definitely think you're right about risk tolerance. I think that most great entrepreneurs have a high tolerance for risk - even if they're prone to hedging the downside.

Great video! Tom, I just love "the army" of people that you are bringing to the Impact Theory. I am not sure if this is the right place to ask, but is there any chanse you can bring Eben Pagan to the show? And again...Thank you for all great videos!
