The NLS def gave the track more grit, glue and movement. I have the NLS plug and haven’t used it in years but I’m gonna try out this technique. Thanks for the Video!

Same. I had it for a while I kinda forgot about it. But then I been seeing the Jaycen video going around and was like I have to try this. It’s a nice trick for sure. Doesn’t always work especially if you have a ton of mids to begin with in your drums. But a lot of the times it sounds nice.

Put it on the master buss specifically the channel version” trust me”i turn the drive up until it’s hitting in between -6 and -5 at the loudest peak and after that I put BOZ little clipper and bring the “pull” down until it’s clipping some transients off “to taste” and bring the soft clip knob down to 50% . And then after that use another clipper or limiter to bring the rest of the volume back up to where ever you desire “most likely 0db or .03 . It’s many other ways to use it but I use it this way 🤷🏾‍♂️

Great video! Massive tip to use StudioRack to do this....one thing Jaycen has in his template in ProTools, he compensates the pan a little bit to the left (-86 on the right channel in PT) on his main drums bus. He explained the NLSs for some reason skew things to one side.

Really cool idea for perfectly clean samples from sample packs,, as well as synths presets, but I wonder what it sounds like on actual recorded instruments.

Good point. I think if you are trying to keep the recorded instrument clean maybe this won’t be the best approach. But if you are going for a touch of crunch and dirt. This is good.

@@Jamusictv Update... I tried it today on a few projects I'm working on. Great for clean electric guitars, polished sounding drums, clean bass etc. Not as good for faster aggressive recording such as punk or metal. Thanks again for this idea!

Nice. Glad it worked out. I can imagine on punk and metal it probably gets to crunch real fast. Consider the genre is pretty crunchy.

I think when Jaycen Joshua originally opened the session that was sent to him to mix. That’s what was on the drums. He just ran with it. I thought the same. Why not use channels on it. Maybe I will compare the two to see if any difference? Good question

The NLS technique not a technique from Jaycen Joshua, in fact its a thechnique from Steve who mix for Mike Will... Jaycen just let this track in a aux track when he received that, and the first time he saw that I thinked it was a mistake lol... He just root this track to a master aux for the drums. Thats the real story ;)

Only if they're recorded through a hardware Pultec on the way in. Just listened to an interview with him on produce like a pro. He's been entirely in the box since 2020. This trick was started because he was missing analog on drums and bass. Don't know where you got your info, but it's incorrect. Also keep in mind that almost all the tracks he mixes these days have been recorded my other producers. Most of them sound ridiculously amazing before he ever puts his hands on them. So if he has an edge on you it's that.

Bro. why would we pay for waves?TORRENT ALL DAY! I don't know one person other than you paying for a pluggin
@Jamusictv
@Jamusictv Жыл бұрын
At the end of the day yes you can get free everything via torrents. But if you make money with your music or ever want to make money, you have to ask yourself a couple of things. A) do you know exactly what you are installing on your system? And how some hackers maybe able to access your personal info such as bank account and CC info. And f up your world. B) plenty of crack software will changed the infrastructure of your system which will make it highly unreliable. When you have a client depending on you and paying money for a project and your system fails what do you tell ‘em ? C) if you are trying to make music your lively hood then how do you justify not paying for something that you will be asking a client or a fan to pay you for ?At the end of the day if your young and don’t have any money and just trying to have fun with music then who am I to tell you don’t use cracks. But if you are serious about your craft you realize cracks are a huge liability and we all deserve to get paid for our work. Including developers of plugins.

Appreciate that bro. I won’t be a hypocrite and sit here and say I never used a crack. Because when I was in my 20s in the 2000s and didn’t have money and wanted to learn. That’s what it was. However as you grow and get deeper pockets. You need to do the right thing. Plus cracks destroy the f out of your system. And with all the virus that can back door your system. I’m good taking the chance of someone getting my social security number, address, cc , bank etc info. Lol anyway appreciate the love big homie.

Only if you are part of some affiliate programs you may get a bundle for free. Maybe. But not all companies give you their plugins for free. 99% of the plugins I have I paid for. Only a small handful I display here have been given to me for a review or part of affiliate program. Which again they don’t pay me for. They just give me the plug-in. FYI. Not sure if you have knowledge on how that works. But that’s how it goes most of the time. If you are paid to make a video for a company you clearly have to state that. Other wise KZfaq will flag you and strike you down for false advertising. Words have consequences and ignorance of policy and law is not an excuse of innocence.

@Jamusictv Жыл бұрын
I tried real summing as I used to work in a studio where we used a SSL 9000 and SSL 4000 with tons of analog gear and analog boxes. I can say this 20 years ago. Plugins had a hard time keeping up with hardware. Now plugins have gotten extremely competitive at keeping pace with their hardware counterparts. Proven by plenty of blind test where most couldn’t tell the difference. As far as this video just being a marketing ploy, its not. I don't work for Waves, nor do they pay me to make videos. I mostly do videos on here of videos of plugins that I like or use or think people will find useful.
