Jaycen Joshua uses Waves Trueverb to place the sound in the front or back of the mix. This technique could be used on drums, background vocals, bass, or even the 808.
He used only the early reflection to get that 3D effect and used it in many chart-topping songs.

I feel like there is no wrong way to do anything it’s all about taste and what you like ! I thought I was crazy for putting reverb on my 808s I was using a convoluted reverb ! Going to try this method now

It is a good idea. Personally, I always use Trueverb on my master channel with specific settings.

Hey! Simply just invert the phase in left or right and it's done! it disappears in mono speakers though.

From what I've seen, he dials the ealy reflections all the way down and explains how it creates the effect. I tried this and the only thing this does is volume difference (go null test it yourself). Nothing else. I love his mixes but it amazes me how he can get it so wrong. Escpeccially when the effect works when you actually engage the ealy reflections (which I see you doing). But I'm yet to see any screen grab of hs where the fader isn't at -24.

1.The difference becomes noticeable in an acoustically treated room due to the subtlety of early reflections. Additionally, their audibility depends on the applied settings; 2.The early reflection volume is set to -24 dB. That's correct, but with the mentioned settings, if you turn off the direct signal, you still hear the early reflections. Personally, I tend to increase the volume of early reflections
@ILoveTelecasters
@ILoveTelecasters 3 ай бұрын
@@yeckxo It has nothing to do with whether my room is treated or not. Have you tried doing a null test of Jaysens settings? Because it nulls completely when you adjust for the volume difference. I was quite surprised myself. But when you actually turn the early reflections up (like yourself) it gives an effect

@@yeckxo you know what, no I stand corrected… just tried again and there are early reflections at -24. Terrible test I made then 🤡 But cool it works!

Everyday i hit gym, listening Audio nerd podcast, then i go to cafe Nero garb a buttered coffee and try to watch vids about mixing , by 10am im motivated to jump on my gear and rock, i subed to you cuz i watched all Jaycen Jousha vids, i actually mix just like how he does, many youtubers took Jycen vids and explained it but you not only explain it in depth , same time you lay it in a way knowing beginners making mistakes, by saying "Vox in face" "Drum upfront, basse upfront " shows you acknowledge what beginners struggle with, from today so on ill watch your vids on daily base too. For those who are beginners and watching your stuff i have few words , you might not get it this might be a bit too advanced for you but trust me just sub the channel, go dig in internet and learn a bit more then you will find yourself here in this channel, i bet on that. Keep hustling.

Explaining in comments is tricky, but the key is turning off those late reflections. Just dial in a short decay settings to keep early reflections from going wild.

Many are familiar with the distinction between bass guitar and the 808. In Jaycen’s tutorial, he demonstrated using both on the 808 and bass guitar, whereas the example in this particular tutorial focused solely on a bass line. Therefore, there is no issue with that discrepancy.

@yeckxo
@yeckxo 3 ай бұрын
@@janvandertoorn The 808 is the 808 and the bassline is the bassline. Those seeking advanced mixing or music production techniques are likely already aware of this distinction. In the video, only the bassline example was shown, but it can also be applied to the 808. What is the issue with that?
