Yes, wonton is usually minced pork and prawns. You should be able to get wonton noodles in the UK Chinatowns, because this dish is Cantonese, and Cantonese food is well represented in the UK. The noodles often come with char siu (barbecued pork). 'Wonton' itself is Cantonese for 'swallow cloud'.

Ipoh is famous for their flat rice noodle, we can't really figure out why, their noodle seems to be more silky on the mouth compared to other parts of Malaysia. You can feel the silkiness when you slurp the noodles with minimal resistance. Some rumor were saying Ipoh's water is the contributing factor.

Would like to recommend you the Aun Kheng Lim salted chicken located at 24 Jalan Theatre, Ipoh (nearby the biscuit shop). Don't miss this famous delicacy of Ipoh. Once again you guys nailed it bro Jay and Karolina 😍😍. So nice to see you guys enjoying all the Chinese street food and cuisines. That longan drink is my fav. There is another herbal version called Liong Sui, this drink darker in colour and soo yummy. Always preferred it in hot version. All the drinks in Malaysia best to mix it first before you drink it. 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻. And yes in Malaysia, eat first and then pay. The locals very friendly when you’re a tourist 🫣🫣🫣🫣. Hahahaha. How’s the weather in Penang, saw your story and are you guys struggling with the humidity?? Hope you guys are doing fine and enjoying Penang. We are leaving soon to Malaysia, looking forward 😍💃

We like ordering Chinese food very much because we get freshly prepared dishes that are simple and tasty! And since Ipoh is famous for Cantonese and Hakka delicacies, we basically ate them all day 😍 The first day in Penang was very hot and it looks like it will be like this until the end of our stay, we also have to be careful not to overdose on the sun 🌞 - generally we like Georgetown a lot, but it's quite touristy (which doesn't really appeal to us haha), so we would love to visit less common parts of the island! 🏝️

Hope you guys are resting well in between. 🤩

Guys, for drinks like coffee, Teh, herbal drinks..........always stir mix the drinks before drinking. Many shops/stalls usually serve these drinks with sugar or milk at the bottom. It's safer mixing them before drinking otherwise the tastes will be lopsided.

You’ll definitely see a whole varieties of food wherever you go in Malaysia. Ipoh is famous for 3- Shredded Chicken Hor Fun and Taugeh Chicken Rice- Ipoh ppl seems to love shredded chicken and it’s being used at many stalls for many other noodle dish, like the soup noodle or ‘wanton’ noodle dish. Personally, I’m not a fan of Ipoh food, as they taste quite 1-dimensional or bland. Shredded chicken in porridge is mot bad though, comfort food. The 3rd, is the Ipoh WHITE coffee. The white is due to how the coffee is processed, and it is not completely white per se. But the taste is quite complex. Most places even in Ipoh are using instant white coffee nowadays though

The best companion when savouring old fashion Chinese baked goodies is with cups of Chinese tea minus sugar and milk. This way you offset the flaky pastry and the sweet/savoury combination. The egg yolk is in fact salted duck egg yolk not freshly boiled chicken egg. Chinese loves to tickle the tastebuds in incorporating sweet, saltiness, texture etc. Many goodies also are made with assortment of nuts and seeds. They could be crispy like Florentines or chewy sticky like nougat. 😢 Within the multicultural cuisines there are tremendous diversity, be it within the Chinese, Malay, Indian, Portuguese Serani, Peranakan, East Malaysian etc. You could not finish tasting all and every type of cuisine in Malaysia within a short time. But do enjoy the rest of your explorations. Cheers and have great fun doing so.

😀 think you've been having your seafood wrong all this while. Seafood tastes so yummy here, you shouldn't leave without at least giving a seafood meal a try. And that wan tan mee is not typical of what you'd find everywhere else in Malaysia. Being Ipoh I guess, is why they serve it with beansprouts.
