In case I wasn't clear. This isn't official lore. The story surrounding Io and the new champ is currently unknown. Most of this is my speculation based oh the new teasers and what we currently know about Io.

why did this turn from paladins lore to a therapy session and why did i like it so much

Io being broken in the inside would explain a lot. Like, her title literally says Shattered Goddess. And yes I understand that this is because moon was broken etc. but in trailer she said that something else was broken, if I understood correctly? This often made me confused because she is absolutely perfect and fine on the outside, but her always always sounded.. I dont know, deppressing to me? Am I the only person who gets this vibe from her whenever she speaks? She was represented as absolutely perfect, and she behaves this way too, but I always thought there is deeper meaning to her title because it really didn't correspond to her behavior xDD

I have a fight in my head between Io and Vora that I think would be amazing and tragic. It goes as follows: Io and Vora both return to the Shattered Desert for their own reasons and meet each other at what we know as the capture point. The sight of Io enrages Vora, causing her to lash out and hurl insults at Io. Io doesn't deny any of Vora's words, acknowledges her own inadequacy, and explains that she doesn't expect Vora to ever forgive her. After some more words and Io attempting to convince Vora to turn away from the Darkness, the Darkness forces Vora to lash out and attack, starting the fight. The battle is fierce and violent, but Io manages to win...or so she thinks. Saddened by the fact that she had to defeat her last remaining follower, Io turns to walk away. Vora, laying in the middle of the capture point, calls out to her saying "NO! DON'T YOU DARE TURN YOUR BACK ON ME...not again..." This causes Io not only to stop, but to turn back around and go to hold and comfort Vora. At that moment, the Darkness "releases" Vora, who then breaks down in her goddess's arms, telling her how much she wanted to believe in Io and her power even after all that happened, but the pain she felt was too much for her to bear. This breaks It's heart even further and she breaks down as well, constantly apologizing to Vora for failing to live up to her people's expectations. Once their guards are down, the incredibly disappointed darkness sprouts it's tendrils from the ground beneath them and impales Io through her chest. The tendrils pierce Vora as well and the Darkness calls Vora a pathetic failure for her inability to kill Io. Io's blood flows from the tendrils and onto the capture point and the Darkness once again takes over Vora, forcing her to chant an incantation that ultimately drags both Io and Vora into an endless void, sealing both of them away forever. Io's blood acts as the conduit to complete the seal and, with Io and the last of her followers out of the way, the Darkness is freed to terrorize the Realm as it pleases

**It was a big fight** IO-Wan: You were the Chosen One! It was said that you would destroy the Abyss, not join them. bring balance to the Realm, not leave it in darkness. Vora Skywalker: I hate you! IO-Wan: You were my Sister, Vora! I loved you. ** Days Later** Corvus Palpatine: Lady Vora, can you hear me? Darth Vora: Yes, Master. Where are the followers? Are they safe? Are they alright? Corvus Palpatine: It seems, that in your anger, you killed them. Darth Vora: I... I couldn't have. They were alive! I felt it! [In her anguish, Vora damages several surrounding Void Objects through the Crystals Force. She then breaks the tentacles that have been holding her down and takes a few steps forward. Corvus watches, grinning cruelly.] Darth Vora: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Youre making a very good point in describing how she makes herself look cute, pretty etc to appear okay on the outside, while she is broken and probably very hurt on the inside, and imo thats fine. But the problem is, if you go for something like this on the outside, you have to reflect it via personality, voice lines, hell maybe even facial impressions which unfortunately they didnt do. Io just has this way too generic kind goddess personality, if she had a more split and broken personality, a healthy mix between kindness and negativity due to her being broken she would probably be a lot more liked. Maybe the devs will change that up some day but until that happens i doubt many opinions about her will change since, even though you explained it well, ingame you wont hear this. Very well said btw, you should honestly consider doing voice overs professionally! ^^

If the gods aren't perfect I wonder if there are set rules and regulations in the paladins pantheon that may have prevented IO or kept information on how to decend to the realm. Perhaps after Androxus killed a god strict rules were set on how to interact with mortals

Juicy lore and amazing theories... My question is where does Vora's actions of abandoning hope in Io and transforming into her current self (as seen in the new trailer today) fit into the timeline? Do Io's followers fall and afterward then Io decides to make an appearance? All because she was incapable of manifesting a physical form and figuring out how to during this time? Was she too late?

I hope I will like this new champion... I like Io, and I would be a fan of a story like this involving Io. I hope that other champions will be involved as well, like Jenos and Atlas. Jenos could help Io, Io could go the the new champion, try to talk her down, unsuccessful, and Atlas could tell/show her the future and then together with Io they could talk her down, but after she did quite a bit of damage. I'd love something like that.

I'm very shy and I always try to show I'm not that shy. I hide my feeling because I don't want to look weak. I'm weak, yeah, I'm sad and broken for sure. Will I left the darkness destroy the realm? Not on this time line.

Your connection to Atlas' loadout card has really made me want to look back at champions from the last 2 years and see if they have any other easter eggs for possible future characters.

Io and Vora was teased probably since BETA. The shattered moon and all.

I think she says this because Io didnt save her from the darkness. But it's ironic because the darkness shattered Io and Vora is with it now. Such unique dramatic irony. But Vora had a job to protect a seal as she seid, maybe it was that crystal and Corvus came in and fought her pushing her into the darkness and this was when Corvus was in the shattered desert, later in Io's trailer we see corvus fighting Atlas and the paladins maybe that was when in Atlas's timeline when the darkness got released, so Io didn't come on time probably. But Luna being separated from Io probably severely impacted both. Since she seid they were once whole. And if those fragments are aeprate they are weak apart.

Damn.. your also one hell of a story teller. I think io was scared that she wasnt herself and the moon she manifested from was broken. But when magistrates army attacked she couldnt stay back and came down to help. Maybe she was waiting to heal up ( out of combat re gen maybe the time it took for io to come was too long for the new champ to hold up as she was already surrounded by her comrades bodies. So like any1 else she seeks power and the darkenss that broke the moon and residing in those pieces gave her power to have control over her

Her ingame presence actually shows that she shattered. Io and Luna are the same being, torn apart into two forms.

best case to aim this up in a nutshell, Io did a bad job being a goddess, her people now don't know what to do about it, one of them decided to take a crack shot and turn herself into a corrupted insectoid to do ios job, but it came with a cost.

To make herself look pretty and adorable to hide the mess... Accurate. We all remembered the first appearance of Io.

Can we talk about that stomp 40-3 game for a moment? Holy shit! This is one of many reasons why ppl find this game less and less fun and especially when solo queueing. You can barely get a balanced match these days and stacks are just too strong. Fixing this should be their priority. No one is having fun being stomped by 5 players stack in 2 minutes. Zero balance.
