Hey Jamal...listen to the tune again. Your boy MICHAEL McDONALD is singing background. Michel joined STEELY DAN as a touring band member IN 1974. He provided background on albums THE ROYAL SCAM, KATY LIED and AJA and GAUCHO. He also played keyboards on many tracks, too. I'm 70 years old and enjoy seeing you discover MY music.

Steely Dan is not for amateurs...their songs were often about the underbelly of citylife, drugs, illicit sex, and all kinds of naughtiness 😉😊 These guys can tell on helluva good story! Love watching your reactions, you bring these songs back to life for this 58 yr old!

"Only A Fool Would Say That" by Steely Dan. The lyrics are so perfect for what's going on in the world today.

Michael McDonald’s backing vocals are so awesome. The song is called Time Out of Mind. No My.

I can’t believe you missed Michael McDonald in the backing vocals. Normally you nail his voice immediately.

My favorite Michael McDonald vocals of all time are the two lines he sings on this song: “Have it right here” and “light in my eye.”

Probably the happiest song ever written about heroin (which I think Becker was addicted to at one time). Water changing to cherry wine=blood going into a syringe. Silver turning to gold=a spoon changing color when heated with a lighter.

I don’t care what they doin in the lyrics. The groove is relentless and catchy AF!

Plenty musicians hate or love Steely Dan, but no pro can deny the absolute mastery of producing and recording music they represent. Constantly bringing the best of the best musicians - famous or obscure - until they get JUST the right sound. RIP Walter.
