Back in 2002, I picked up this steamer, as an impulse buy, at Big Lots. They sell Big Lots Of Nothing. This was one of those items.
I don't know if there ever was an informercial for this exact product, but there have been newer ones featuring Anthony Sullivan as the host. They show all of these absolutely outlandish uses for this device.
Yes, steam cleans. Steam sanitizes. But when you're steaming the overflow of your bathroom sink, that's pushing the envelope too far. Same with steam cleaning your grill.
I bought this with an open mind, wanting to discover what I could do with it. I'm still inventing uses for it to this day, 20 years later. And it had a recall on it, it was supposed to have blown up years ago but keeps on going. I guess somebody knew what they were doing when they built this one. Or perhaps I've just been lucky. One use I have found for it, that is absolutely unsurpassed by any other cleaning method, is to clean the gunk and crud that builds up around sinks, especially the faucet, where that meets the sink. It might look clean, but it's not. Another great use is in the car, for just about any of those millions of little cracks and crevices. Sort of acts like an indoor pressure washer. Pee crumbles not included.

I still have 2 of these. This is absolute favorite steamer. Love the window attachment. It's also a garment steamer if you take off the squeegee. But I went further. There is an actual floor attachment. It's got a different hose with a special connection to attach two extenders and a wide brush to scrub and steam your floors. And then a harness to hold the scunci in to wear it, in essence instead of having to carry it. I absolutely adore this steamer. I've tried others, but this one is the most powerful one of them all. It will get ink out of your carpet, mold out of your grout. The gunk off your stove. Love love love this steamer still today in 2024, and I've had mine since it came out, and I bought it new.

Thanks for this! I picked one up at a garage sale & didn’t know wtf to do with it….until now. First it shot a stream of water across the kitchen which made my cats scatter in terror, but I think it will be a handy tool. Appreciate the recall warning to be aware of. Great review that made me laugh too. Take care!

Ermahgerd erm first! Went to that web site and Firefox told me the world would end if I continued in that direction. It's too nice a day to end the world so I'll save that for a rainy day. Did a google search and they still make them and they look just the same. The only steamer I've ever had was one to steam the wrinkles out of clothes. It was a little handheld thingy. I think it found it's way to the trash when I was packing up my old house.

It's not too nice of a day here today. Video tomorrow. These type steamers are definitely still made but I think Scunci is out of business. I had mentioned in the video I have one very similar I got from Aldi a couple years ago. Keep meaning to take that out of the box and make sure it works. I have a couple other clothes steamers also. Very very rarely used, but indeed I am glad I have them.

My video is a demonstration, with my usualy flair of humor; nowhere did it say "diagnose", "fix", "repair", "broken", or "not working". So I'll do like the rest of the Internet does and use the operative "just", as in "just take the handle apart and soak it overnight in white vinegar". Because "just" tells you to do something you either don't want to do or don't know how to do, and white vinegar fixes and cleans nothing well. Makes your house stink good though. A VERY easy search, much in the way you found my video, will direct you to another's video, where the gentleman took his apart and showed you how, and indeed soaked it in white vinegar and it worked. Your mileage WILL vary.

@1pcfred
@1pcfred 3 ай бұрын
@@jaykay18 I think a large factor in how easy wallpaper is to remove depends on how it was applied. If someone used a lot of glue then you're going to have a hard time of it. I haven't started the job in earnest here yet so I don't know how it's going to go. I've a feeling I'm going to have that hard time though.

@jaykay18
@jaykay18 Жыл бұрын
IIt's probably rusted in place, that's my guess. Firstly, press the button in case there's any built-up pressure, there shouldn't be. Then you're going to take a huge pair of pliers and try to get it off. If it won't move or feels like the plastic cap will break off, get a can of PB Blaster or other penetrating oil and spray liberally under the cap. Give that a shot every day for a few days. Then try to take off the cap. If the cap shears off, not a huge deal, it's plastic on metal. That might give you a better chance of removing it. It can be glued back later on.

Best way to clean a toilet seat very well is just unscrew it from the bowl, soap and scrub, then hose it down. I do this every 1-2 yrs.

Thanks for the detailed video. Found one for cheap at goodwill with a bummer of not having ANY attachments, hoses, wands, extensions, brushes, nozzles, etc. Any of those black bits that should have come with. So im wondering if it would be useable at all? And if so, any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Thanks very much, you rock!

You'll need a nozzle at the very least to make it work. You can try to jury-rig something, but you don't want any steam leakage, so make sure it's a tight fit, otherwise it can burn. If you have a 3D printer, you can probably make your own nozzle. Or, you might find a nozzle set on Amazon that may fit. Alternatively, you might find an entire new steamer, with the nozzles. If they fit yours, you can use it until it goes kaput, then put the nozzles back on the new one and keep using it.

My parents had this in their garage for over 10 yrs. It looks brand new still. I was hoping to use it to steam my new drapes (take out wrinkles and lines), but honestly too scared to even try it. Y'all think it's safe, or should I just rent or buy a new one?
@jaykay18
@jaykay18 Жыл бұрын
If you're scared, take it outside and try it there, plug it in, let it heat up, and leave it for 10 minutes. If nothing bad happens, it's probably just fine. Mine is pushing a good 20 years old and still works like new. It's not really meant for steaming drapes and whatnot, but with the right attachment it may work just fine for it, and will save you from buying a new one. It works great for what I demonstrated in this video, and that's what it's really meant for. They do sell garment steamers out there for not much money that would likely do a better job, but why spend money on something you don't really need, or will use very infrequently? Try what you have first. It likely fell into disuse for no real reason.
