She was very much so...i agree. She knew what she was doing being sex symbol and getting famous. She knew what to do, the tricks to get the publicity, how to do things in certain ways to make it work and make money. She also was a great mother. I believe it was a shame she got involved with Anton LeVey bc i truly believe that man was some kind of something (and not good), he even warned her to get away from Sam bc he had a very very ill fate coming(he cursed him in a spell) and it would be soon and if she didnt keep away she too would be a part of that. Well, not long after..the accident occured. She seemed to change so very kuch once she was around Anton and his cult and its disheartening. She could still be here to this very day but then again..maybe her purpose was to be here and have the Mansfield bars made so it saved countless lives. I dunno....i just think about things at times and wonder. Sorry..longer read than i thought it would be.

Incorrect. She's faking her voice. When she first said "I'd feel the way the tower of London feels" she exposed her real voice. She corrected it after that by masking with the soft semi-high pitched Marilyn Monroe like voice. It has been noted that she has a very strong Texas accent with a deep voice.

Kaempfer M No. Have you seen her at all? Mariska looks just like Jayne but one thing I will say is as she has gotten older she resembles her dad more. Both Mickey and Jayne had this strong bone structure which Mariska undoubtedly has....if you’re talking about “feminism” and you deem that feature as “manly”..which is silly. Of course their mannerisms are different but honestly she reminds me so much of Jayne in her interviews...her smile and everything is allll Jayne. Now Jayne’s oldest daughter is her twin but it’s impossible to deny Mariska’s strong resemblance to her mother.

Mariska is so different in Jayne. So less splashy and never a Sex Symbol. She is a serious actress and a nice woman. Sometimes I wonder if Mariska is ashamed of her Mother. because Jayne's need for publicity by the 1960s had many thinking she was a freak and a joke. She was the greatest Bad Taste celebrity ever. That stint with Sophia is enough to earn her that title. Shameless. Imagine that in the 1950s? That was beyond outrageous back then. It was sad though cause maybe Sophia could have been a friend, instead of just an object Jayne used in her quest for fame. EVen though I dont understand it, Sophia feels she is paying respect to Jayne by not autographing pictures of her and Jayne , because she says Jayne is not here anymore. So what?

Jayne made an excellent point about stars sharing their lives, to a degree, with the public. Anyone who goes into show business has to know that if they become well-known there will be an interest in them and that, especially in this, era, it's impossible to keep their life "secret", to use Jayne's word. If someone is going to be in acting or any other profession that would possibly make them famous and that person doesn't want the public to know anything about their life they are being unrealistic and maybe should re-think their career choice. A slightly different topic: It would be great if the paparazzi and TV producers and publishers could know how I'm totally uninterested in seeing famous people walking with their children out of the grocery store or traveling with the nanny while the wife is somewhere else or getting too-involved with a co-star. If I don't care I'm sure there are tens of millions of other people who don't care either. It can be interesting at times to know about the life of a famous person in a limited, controlled way that just gives some general information or tells something positive such as how they achieved a goal or deal with a difficult situation but to know about their lives from those people being spied on? No way. No, thanks. I think Jayne would agree with me.
@RabuHina8 жыл бұрын
Andrew Brendan I very much agree. While it is interesting to see what a famous person is like off screen and with their families, I don't think its needed. Much like everyday people, celebrities love their children just like every mom and dad out there so its not really needed to see them with their families, as nice as it is, its not really needed. Hearing how they became who they are (like dealing with personal problems, domestic violence etc) and seeking out their talent as a way to escape, and become someone famous is a nice story to hear that could inspire someone to do the same thing/over coming a bad habit of some kind. Not to mention paparazzi's have little to no respect for famous people or their privacy. Its all about catching them doing something innocent and later putting their own title on what they think it is.
@andrewbrendan15798 жыл бұрын
+RabuHina I agree with your agreeing with me! Something else that I, and that I think a lot of other people also, can do without from the media is coverage of "celebrity baby bumps". Those who work in the media must be desperate to find material for the public to see and read as if there wasn't already an overload. Many years ago on the TV game show "Tattletales" which featured celebrities and their spouses who were sometimes celebrities also, there was a question about tabloid coverage of famous people. Though "Tattletales" was light entertainment Elaine Joyce spoke forcefully against tabloid material and ended with, "Who cares? Who really cares?" as there was a burst of applause from the audience. Though Jayne Mansfield had five children and four were born during her years as an actress I've never seen Jayne visibly pregnant. That must have been one of those things she believed in keeping private. If Jayne had been shown "showing" my guess (admittedly just a guess) is that Jayne would have worn something loose and modest as was done in that era. Jayne's appearance and behavior could be way over the top and flamboyant in some ways but in others she set a good example for people who are public figures even today.
@RabuHina8 жыл бұрын
Andrew Brendan That's true. Its sad today that some famous people feel the need to flaunt themselves too much as if they want more attention. I know some mothers are proud to show off their pregnancy, especially first time moms who are proud of having their first child (which is fine as long as its not over done) or be modest and wear something just enough to cover the pregnancy. Jayne indeed did have 5 children and she (as she herself said) loved the title of mother most, but she never would flaunt that either. I like an example like that. Parents who are proud of their children but not over indulge/gush over it. In California there was a bill that was passed which is going to forbid paparazzi from taking pictures of children (famous or otherwise) in a harassing manner and will be fined. Its a good thing this is being passed but kinda stupid that they can't just let the children be or famous people in general alone.

I read other comments on here and noticed a lot of people think she was a Satanist and like a bad person..Watch a documentary about her..Look at what an amazing mother she was and how much her husband,who seemed to be a very sweet man loved her...I don't think a bad person would be as loving and caring as she was..She wasn't perfect, she was human and had problems like everyone else, but she had a good heart and it's a tragedy what happened to her. She didn't deserve a lot of what happened during her last years and the manner in which she passed was so awful. Have compassion and find out more about her, before making your decision on whether she was a bad person...
@Kaboomboo2 жыл бұрын
My general view of her (and I've watched all of her documentaries and read a lot about her. I'm kind of a fanatic) is that she was at times a good person. She wasn't mean spirited and was kind to people, but at the end of the day, it was her life and anyone involved was just along for the ride. When her career was starting to decline, she became very self destructive, and unfortunately her children were caught up in the mess. She drank a lot and got involved with terrible men, one of whom beat her daughter so severely she had to run away in the middle of the night. The one man that loved her and would never harm her, she cheated on several times and mistreated horribly. She also roped in her children through all of this, travelling with her, watching her get drunk and get into fights with her boyfriends. She didn't even think twice about raunchy publicity stunts that made her look cheap and unfit to care for her children. It's by God's grace that her children didn't get hurt in the accident that took her life. Her lifestyle and means to support her family almost got them killed. It was only because of her divorce from her third husband and a custody fight that kept her infant son out of the car that night. Did she deserve what happened to her in her last years? Well that's a loaded question, but much of her career and drugs and alcohol issues were her own doing. Marrying men and getting involved with shady users. And she wasn't getting help from those offering it. Even her daughter noped out.

On June 29, 1967, Mansfield was killed instantly in a car crash after the 1966 Buick Electra she was riding in struck the rear of a trailer truck on Interstate-90 east of New Orleans, Louisiana. Ronald B. Harrison, the driver, and Sam Brody, her attorney and partner, were also killed. Her three children with ex-husband Hargitay were riding in the back and were injured, but survived. Following her death, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ordered that all tractor trailers have a rear under guard installed, which is now often known as the Mansfield bar. Wrong. She fakes Marilyn's voice. When she said: "I feel the tower of london" she exposed the deeper voice. Marilyn had her soft voice tactic to hide her stutter. Sharon had this soft voice naturally. An interviewer told sharon she would be seen as a new marilyn monroe. But as humble as sharon was she said: "oh I wish but I could never be like her." While Mansfield was trying so hard. But like Marilyn said: "Mansfield made a parody out of me and herself."

I hate (old) America for being utterly clueless how to respond when confronted with a sexy charming intelligent educated and highly talented young woman. Instead of showing appreciation she was labeled and treated as yet another "dumb blonde". Her life breaks my heart.
@Kaboomboo4 жыл бұрын
That was her own doing, wtf are you talking about? Jayne wanted to be in the Hollywood game and saw the success Monroe was getting and decided to emulate her because that was the 'in' thing at the time: curvy, blonde bombshells. She played that part to the point of caricature and the studio used her as leverage against Monroe. She tried to offset that image by saying she was actually very smart and doing other things like playing instruments and being well spoken. But that too was offset by her frequent publicity stunts that made her look cheap and trashy. Jayne definitely could've played up her intelligence more if she was just a little more subtle and restrained but she was too fame hungry that she jumped at any opportunity for attention. Again: it was her own doing.

@ccgrey8731 Жыл бұрын
Marilyn's beauty wasn't manufactured as you say. Marilyn was naturally pretty and had that glow about her when she was still Norma Jeane. All movie stars had their glamor amped up by their movie studios.
@MauriceRivers415 Жыл бұрын
@@ccgrey8731 I think you need to re-read what I wrote. I never said Marilyn was manufactured: I said Jayne had no ground to make that statement, since HER own look was a very watered-down and cheap version of Marilyn. The facts remain that Jayne Mansfield was, at best, a B/C-rate actress. She didn't have the comic timing and the natural warmth of Monroe, and, truth to tell, she was never as sexy, either. Monroe's appeal was based on a fresh quality, a hint of the girl next door, and Jayne never really understood that.

I've also noticed that Jayne Mansfield had a confidence and assurance that Marilyn Monroe did not have---and that's not a criticism of Marilyn. Marilyn went unbelievably far for someone whose earlier life had been mostly ongoing trauma and lack of what she needed. Jayne Mansfield was a good talker too: her comments were interesting and articulate. I admire Marilyn as well as Jayne but it seems that words did not come as easily for Marilyn; she didn't have as much education as Jayne and also sometimes stuttered when nervous.
@tammylewis2408 Жыл бұрын
Marilyn's death plus changing times made Jayne less relevant to producers. By 1964, the curvy blond bombshell image was replaced by slender-framed women like Twiggy and the "California girl" (tanned, slender, long hair, and athletic). Also, bad management, bad publicity, and other people who took advantage kept Jayne from transitioning into more serious roles, relying on cheap publicity stunts to keep her name and image in the news. She mistakenly turned down the role of Ginger on Gilligan's Island, which would have brought her steady income thru royalties and new fans. But it's also understandable why Tina Louise, who eventually played Ginger, was typecast for many years and distanced herself from the show.

Well, she acknowledged that and she was very skilled at entertaining the public

The phrase "making love to someone" only meant speaking romantically in their ear then back then.

She reminds me of Marilyn Monroe

That was intentional - the movie studio specifically styled her that way.

I like the way she looked into the camera like that. Girls these days are nothing like her.

Yes, I do too. I think it was her way of bringing the audience in on the conversation. It is very good sign that she understood etiquette and good social graces. She wants you to know she is not ignoring you and talking solely to the interviewer. This is how it should be done.

Stylizowana na Marilyn Monroe, ale bogini jest TYLKO JEDNA ! Jayne nie posiada tej charyzmy i wdzięku, kobiecości dziecka, która tak niesamowitą aurą otaczała MARILYN !...

If still alive Jayne would have guest starred on SVU just so she would have gotten to work with her daughter.
