The difference is Ja was actually dumb enough to believe it cause he's arrogant. Tatum is humble and that's why you can tell he doesn't believe it. You can tell he doesn't believe it, notice how he avoids eye contact as he says it. He's trying to make himself believe but he knows he's not on Jokic's level. Because he's not and he's not delusional. He's a humble guy, which is why he didn't say he was the best player last year. 1. He has yet to consistently step up on the biggest stages (ECF and Finals) 2. Being the face of the league is about more than talent and skill. Marketability is an important component (see Jordan, Kobe, Lebron, or even Embiid).

Tatum’s the most COMPLETE player in the league, every other player has a hole in their game. Handle, jumper from anywhere, post game, defense, playmaking, rebounding and his finishing at the rim has improved

his weakness is his mentality. He's not confident, which is why he looked away while he said he was the best player. And if you look at his performance in the elimination game of every Boston season for the last 4-5 years, he's choked in everyone. I give him a pass for last year because the ankle roll. But he has the same problem as LeBron did in his early years. They get nervous in the big game sometimes.

Jayson in my opinion has the biggest bag and some great handles but I notice his landing sabotages him when he does drives in the playoffs. Jayson might wanna check out doing intense yoga, get the family involved, OR do 30 stories up steps everyday. Are you actually watching games...It's usually Tatum who keeps them stable and in the running with Derrick White, I'm disappointed in playoff jaylen brown he gets iffy. The only thing hurting Tatum is his build, he's tall and sort of solid but his ankles always roll. I think it's been time for him to try mids or hi tops

This Celtics team is amazing though. Jrue has gotten much better from the corner 3 and fits in so well with this team and all the tremendous pieces. Celtics office were smart getting Jrue from Portland when Bucks got Dame. It’s all playing out how they wanted to play and compete and I’m hoping Celtics do well in the playoffs offs. This coming from a Pels fan who always likes seeing where Jrue goes and competes too 😅.

Tatum needs to take it away from the best players. He did that against KD, Giannis, Embiid, and now he needs to take that from Kawhi and also show the young talents like Luka Doncic, Anthony Edwards, and SGA that he's that guy. As a Celtics fan I clicked on this, expecting to clown on Tatum for being way too far ahead of himself. But as I watched, I found myself understanding his mentality and what he really means with his words. He is where he is for a reason, and he mentioned that he has questioned if he should've won by now. He says that he is thankful for the way things happened because he is confident in who he is right now and what he's capable of. He is the best player on CLEARLY the best team right now. He wants to be a winner. Let him believe he is one, because right now, he is. Obviously, he still shows signs of immaturity, like excessive 3 point shooting/bad shot selection, and complaining to refs. But I've noticed that in the past week or so, he's been distributing the ball well, driving more, and getting involved when he needs to. He's come a long way, but I think this may be the year JT finally defines to himself what he wants to be, and acts like it on the court with every ounce of effort he has. He understands now's the time. #0 will bring banner 18 to Boston this season. Mark my words.
