After the whistle was blown, Bam Adebayo contested Tatum's three in his landing area, resulting in the Celtics star landing on the center's foot. Adebayo received a flagrant one foul for the play. Skip Bayless, Paul Pierce and Keyshawn Johnson react to Game 4, then debate whether Adebayo deserved the flagrant foul call or not.

I don't know why everyone is pretending to be so confused about this, a reckless closeout is a reckless closeout. It would have been an automatic flagrant during live ball, people are acting like the fact that it happened after the whistle is some kind of defense but in reality that just makes it even worse because at that point there's absolutely no reason for Bam to make such a dangerous move. It would've looked bad on a regular play, it looks exponentially worse after a whistle.

It was called because its a dangerous play from Bam. If a player tried to dunk the ball on a dead whistle and got shoved in the back while in the air, they would call that as well. There is a line here, and the refs made the correct call to protect players. If we stop calling things like this based on dead ball plays we are looking at full on tackles and kicks during timeouts.

Plus Bam has a clear history. I give him a little cred over Embiid who's plainly dirty, but this is the norm for Bam. It was a flagrant, the whistle has nothing to do with it. Needing to swat a meaningless shot and get into his body, then under his foot (Tatum embellishment notwithstanding - paying homage to PP ofc)...it was unnecessary, intent or not.

There's a guy that used to play on the Boston Celtics named Kevin Garnett. He's my favorite player ever I watch them the moment he got to the Timberwolves from Farragut academy. Do you know that without exception every single time and every single game when a player tried to do with Jayson Tatum did he would block the shot. Do you know how many players Kevin Garnett injured or attempted to injure blocking a whistled ball. 0 Because he didn't stand under the player when they were freaking coming down. No one is contesting the fact that every other player does that. But you still have to let the player come down. We are without giannis Joel embiid hobbled Jimmy Butler is sitting on the bench we just saw Murray, kristaps porzingis.... just go towards the rim and knock it down. Every single time Kevin Garnett would just goaltend. How are you the only player in the NBA to be underneath a player's space when the whistle is blown. Freak injury honestly on how it happened. Just sucks it happened especially on a playful shot. Hopefully it doesn't effect the rest of the playoffs for my Celtics.

As a Knicks fan I can say Bam is 100 percent a dirty player. He injured Julius Randle last season and then again this season. It’s not a coincidence that he’s usually near an injured player.

That act like you are allowed to foul just because the play is technically dead. Also the league gave our coach Joe a warning not to do that and well you can obviously see why🤷🏽♂️

I'm a Celtics fan and it blows my mind this is even a conversation when the Celtics fricken head coach was trying to block shots earlier this year. The Cs will never learn, this is what happens when you don't close out games and series. Heat without butler should not win a game, but Celtics take them lightly or think they can roll out and win and series get extended and more chances to get injured and more chances for butler to come back or anything and when Tatum sees butler he pees himself and all bets are off.

Here's a question for Keyshawn and anyone else who objects to the call against Bam: If, after putting his hand up to contest the dead-ball shot, he had hit Jayson in the head, would people object to a flagrant foul call? The problem with taking out DWhite's scoring and talking about what the rest of the team did is that it ignores anything else the rest of the team would have done if he was not playing out of his mind.

He was NOT injured he was fine and playing completely normal like two minutes after this. Also don’t shoot practice shots on a dead ball, should be a delay of game violation, give the ball to the ref.

Stepping under a shooters feet is a dangerous play that has been banned a few years ago. There was a specific play back then where the shooter was injured but I don't recall the name now. Bam probably didn't do it intentionally because remember Bam isn't very bright.
