Jaz-O is often referred to as "The Originator." The Brooklyn King is more than just the man that brought Jay-Z to the world. But, be clear, it was Jaz-O that profoundly influenced the young career of the now-billionaire mogul Shawn Carter. Much has changed since those early days in the Marcy Projects. Jaz-O was affiliated with Roc-A-Fella Records, the iconic record label co-founded by Jay-Z, Damon Dash, and Kareem "Biggs" Burke, but he never signed on the dotted line. He did appeared on Jay-Z's early albums, including "Reasonable Doubt" (1996) and others as a producer and emcee on songs like "Nigga What, Nigga Who (Originator 99)." Big Jaz also dropped several albums during his career, including "Word to the Jaz" (1989), "Ova Confident" (2002), and "The Warmup" (2019), which was distributed through Roc Nation. That partnership closed a long-running public falling out with Jay-Z, which led to a feud in the 2000s. However, they eventually reconciled. Now, Jaz continues to rap and grow. What he takes exception to is what he considers retelling history and leaving him out of it. Check out this exclusive interview with Chuck "Jigsaw" Creekmur and DJ Thoro at WonWorld Studios in New York City.

Big Daddy Kane never said he started Jay Z's career. I've been listening to Kane's interviews for years now & he never said that. Kane also said he was influenced & or got that "Tripplett" style from Jaz O & Jay Z. He said Jaz O was doing that first. Kane said Jaz O, was way more popular than he was in Brooklyn. Kane said Jaz O was like a superstar. Yo Big Daddy Kane is a humble dude. You'll be hard-pressed to find an interview with Big Daddy Kane talking shit, lying or just clearly hating on someone. I've never heard Kane doing any of those things. Kane seems like a stand up dude.

I’m confused, in every Kanye interview I saw he never claimed to be the one to put Jay on. Even in the Drink Champs interview he said, “Jaz O brought Jay with him to meet Kane and asked Kane can his man Jay spit too”. Now Dame on the other hand always claimed to be the one to put Jay on and took credit for Jay success.

Jaz-O is wrong about Kane, so wrong that it’s disrespectful. He never claimed he started Jay, he always said Jaz was the best dude in Brooklyn which is why he wanted to battle him. Kane,Jaz, and Jay did a session with Fresh Gordon and Kane preferred to rock with Jay instedy of Jaz-O. Kane always have Jaz huge props. Also, the interviewers need to research EXACTLY what Kane said. Truthfully Jaz comes off foolish commenting on something he didn’t hear Kane say himself. Weak interview period. It failed to meet the expectations of interviewing someone important was Jaz-O.

Jaz sounds like the president of the Bitter B!tch Brigade, because Jay and Kane went on to have way bigger careers than him, plus Jay and Kane are household names, whereas, Jaz is a house with a ... hole in the wall ... name!! And it's funny to me, how Jay can sit down and discuss his career, without mentioning Jaz. However, Jaz ... CAN'T ... sit down and discuss his career, without mentioning Jay. And for the record, Kane never said he discovered Jay -- BUT, what Kane ... DID ... say, was that he liked Jay more than Jaz, after hearing Jay rhyme for the first time.

What the hell is JAZ talking about regarding Kane? Kane never said anything about starting Jay-Z’s career ! For 25 years he’s been saying that somebody asked him to feature Jaz on a mixtape or something like that and he said that he actually liked his man Jay Z better and preferred to work with Jay! When Jaz O was cold and on hiatus.. it’s a fact that BDK put Jay on his record Show and Prove featuring ODB and Shyheim. He also said that he tried to get Jay a record deal to no avail. There’s footage of Kane bringing Jay & Positive K out on stage in the early 90’s. These are undisputed facts. Truthfully, I think Jaz-O is salty because Kane does admit he liked Jay-Z better than Jaz-O as a rapper. I understand how it can be annoying but we can’t distort history.

This is a good interview… but the two brothers refer to the drink champs interview and at no time did they stop Jaz O and say Kane said that he looked up to him! That he put Jaz over himself and that he got his style from Jaz … and this is where controversy and animosity happens because someone doesn’t step in and say Yo he big up you on the interview, he made sure you got your credit. And to be honest Kane never said he discovered Jay Z other people did. Kane just said he liked his cadence better than Jaz and decided to take on tour nothing more. Jay Z gives Kane more credit than Kane gives himself, so as people especially older we have to stop with the controversy and the 10-20 year animosity that some of these interviews drum up. But all in all it was good to hear the brother and I hope he’s healthy

I highly doubt Bone was in Cleveland listening and being inspired by this dude no one really outside of NYC heard of this dude like that. And BDK never even said he put Jay-z on and he always is respectful of Jaz-O. You can see the bitterness in his face and hear it. He is giving his own self too much credit for Jay-z too. No one bit or stole his style that fast rapping thing was a midwest thing already and ppl from NYC think no one else was doing the same type of hip hop all over this country.

I feel sorry for Jaz at this point. Honestly. He doesn't realize that nobody really heard his music back in the day outside of whoever heard it in New York. Krayzie Bone would have had no way of hearing him. His debut album "peaked at number 87 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart." Not the Billboard 200. The R&B/Hip-Hop charts. They usually don't even list that past #20. Do you know how few albums he had to sell? I'm not trying to be funny. Respect to him. But his music wasn't heard so he's not going to get that credit for rapping fast first. Fu-Schnickens, Das Efx, and all these other people probably did get it from him. Salute. But we heard THEM. Not him.

In my humble opinion, it looks like Jaz-O is reaching. And, he is trying too hard, to start up controversy. CONTROVERSY sells. He does sound bitter. And, you can see it in his face when he speaks. Guys like Jaz-O, I would steer clear from. He is bad news. It doesn't matter what Kane says, or does. Jaz-O is a bitter person. You cannot satisfy guys like him. Just ignore him. It does look like the interviewers was caught off guard, by what Jaz-O was saying. Things that Jaz-O was saying, just wasn't adding up. For example, one of the interviewers mentioned that "One of the Bone Thugs & Harmony members said they got their style from Kane's Set it off song". Jaz O ignored it. As a bitter person would do, Jaz O continued to paint Kane, as a person trying to take credit of discovering Jay z. Jaz O is just at that age, where he doesn't care what he says anymore, because he feels like he is being forgotten. Whatever Jaz O reasoning for spouting off this nonsense. At the end of the day, he is just a bitter person. And for the record. If Jaz O felt a kind of way, why didn't he drop a record, calling out Kane back in the 90s? Why didn't he drop a record calling out Kane, after Jay Z dedicated a full chapter in his book, on Kane as being one of his heroes he looked up to? Because Jaz O knows, that Kane would've mopped the floor up with him. I don't know why there was shots thrown between Jay Z and Jaz-O, in earlier records. But, I suspect that Jay Z saw in Jaz-O, what we are now witnessing today. In conclusion, Jaz O is a bitter person. When you compare Jaz O career to Kane, who stands out more? In my humble opinion.

Damn Jaz-O. You trippin about Kane SMH You SHOULD watch the interview. He talking about he don't want to watch the interview or hear what he said. Then how can you speak on it. Kane gave him props to the point where he literally said he was "jealous" of Jaz-O. He held his hand in the damn air and said "Jaz was up here, I was down here." And he talks about the 3 of them doing a song together. WTF is Jaz talking about?

Silence does not give consent. It's not Kane's place to set someone else's record straight. Throughout hip-hop history, Kane always speaks on how he met Jay-Z and he always mentions Jaz. Furthermore, Kane has said that Jay-Z does not owe him anything. I wonder if Jaz feels the same way.

So he falls back .salute to Them all being the dopest in the history of Hip Hop. They all played their parts in Hip Hop. Honestly Jaz lives through all of them and many more artist even today. It’s evident.

Shout to y’all for caring bout his ego but his standing in history is unheralded and he’s an afterthought. Who’s lost? Me or y’all?
