This stuff is gold! all his vid's are pure gold. Channel should have like a million of views. Looks so simple when he executes. But I know it takes a looooot of time before a man sounds crisp like that.

Hmmm, am I hearing that right? The 3-note lead-in (#2) sounds more like a 4-note lead-in (2 snare, bass, crash). Great lesson. REALLY enjoyed it. Thanks for all your effort and hard work. It's greatly appreciated.

glad you're back! so as a more backbeat orientated drummer i noticed a lot of jazzdrummers play an extra hit on the four (mostly using their left hand on the hihat. mostly when a new soloist or round starts. is there a story to that?

Wow. Excellent playing my friend. Nice to see jazz guys still out there killin it. Kinda getting tired of the chops stuff lately. Any tips on working on trad grip. ? Been doing trad grip lately and I'm fine until faster stuff. Tend to let fulcrum slip. Also is the lighter ghosts notes more thumb pressure or actual stroke using wrist? Thanks and again execellent stuff!!

I like your style of incorporating rudiments in your style, I have a question does weight of the sticks matter and what weight size do you use?
@drumqtips
@drumqtips 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Harold. Thanks for your question. Stick size and preference is very subjective so what works for me, may not work for you. I use my personal Vic Firth Custom stick that you can check out the specs of on my website. Thanks for watching!

Great very inspiring lesson as always! I was wondering what the subdivision on the buzz roll is? Is it a specific rate? Best Roland
@drumqtips
@drumqtips 2 жыл бұрын
The buzz roll has no specific rate but it's good to practice buzz rolls at different tempos without the buzzes first to learn what rates work best at different speeds. I've worked on that quite a bit. Thanks for the question Roland!

If you know the book "Accents and Rebounds" it gives notice that the crush roll is not well received because it has no feel or rhythm.

Thanks for your negative feedback. I hope you feel a bit more important now that you've left so many useless comments on my channel. By the way, who have you played with? Have you recorded and played at the Village Vanguard and toured to over 50 countries with some of the top jazz musicians of our time? Didn't think so. I actually know what I'm talking about and have playing experience to show for it. And my videos have actually helped a lot of drummers. Plus I'm teaching at one of the top jazz schools in the world so clearly I wouldn't have gotten this job if I didn't know what I was doing. I don't mind if you don't like my playing, you wouldn't be the first. But the negativity-what's the point dude?

What about developing phrases and dynamic drums? Using the concept of a drum fill serves no purpose.
