Dave Brubeck (1920-2012) was an American pianist and composer known for his innovative approach to jazz, which often incorporated complex time signatures and unconventional harmonies. He is best known for his album "Time Out," which features the classic jazz tune "Take Five."
Cal Tjader (1925-1982) was an American vibraphonist and percussionist known for his Latin jazz and jazz fusion recordings. He played with many of the biggest names in jazz and Latin music, including Dizzy Gillespie, Stan Getz, and Mongo Santamaria.
Ben Webster (1909-1973) was an American tenor saxophonist known for his soulful, bluesy playing style. He played with many of the biggest names in jazz, including Duke Ellington, Coleman Hawkins, and Benny Carter.
Buddy Collette (1921-2010) was an American multi-instrumentalist (saxophone, clarinet, and flute) known for his work in both jazz and classical music. He was one of the first African American musicians to work in the Hollywood film studios, and played on many classic film soundtracks.
Teddy Edwards (1924-2003) was an American tenor saxophonist known for his bebop and hard bop playing styles. He played with many of the biggest names in jazz, including Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, and Miles Davis. He also had a successful career as a bandleader and recording artist.
