Its also interesting to note that Sco's guitar tone on Tele sounds very similar to his beloved Ibanez, just with more bite and twang. Further proof that its the skill and expertise of the craftsman rather than the tools he uses that creates the beautiful piece of art...the art in this case being live music.

Dub Dub , for me one of the most beautiful pieces of jazz rock I have heard since last year . I continue listening it, with great admiration of John Scoffiel's guitar performance . Very good feeling with the other three good musicians of the band. Thank you

I think that's part of the appeal of that Scofield has, part of why he attracts a lot of younger listeners. My first album with him was A Go Go and I started playing it on poker nights with my non jazz head friends, they liked it and then I found out about Uberjam :)

Most folks don't realize that John Scofield is more than just a 'Jazz' guitarist. He came up playing R&R, Blues, Soul, Funk, Jazz, etc. All these styles encapsulate what he does to this day, and why his bands reflect his need to shift and evolve his musical focus...no easy feat. I recall going to one of his shows back in the 90s expecting him to bring the Chambers/Grainger rhythm section and play all his Blue Matter/Loud Jazz material. Instead he brought a Jazz trio and played nothing but Hard Bop/Swing original compositions. I was pissed off to highest level and almost walked out after a couple of tunes...LOL! But I decided to stay, and it forced me to open my musical ears and LISTEN. I'm a better musician and music lover because of it. Do it Sco...

Went to HS w/ Scofield and also studied with the same guitar teacher, Alan Deane, who seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth but was an awesome teacher. Scofield had a fusion band then called Simple Truth, which did some Blood, Sweat and Tears covers (all I can remember). He was always excellent. I never knew him as a beginner lol.
