Of course today was my last day in my digital color theory class xD you condensed maybe 8 weeks of work into 20 minutes that was just as understandable. Thanks Jazza, as always :)

This is SO helpful. I experiment A LOT in Photoshop CC when it comes to editing photos, making .gifs, etc. But every time I'm about to draw something, I tend to forget all of these tips and tricks, and I find myself completely clueless, and have absolutely no idea what to do to go further with my painting. This video made me help keeping all of these tips and tricks in mind, as well as it learned me new stuff. Totally subscribing!

Wow thanks so much for this video! I tend to do my coloring by applying a solid color and then adjusting the highlights/lowlights for hours with burn/dodge. At the end my stuff ends up looking really soft. The greyscale painting just blew my mind. I've actually never used a clipping mask before but I certainly want to try it now. Thanks!

Hi Jazza! Excellent tutorial video! I learnt some things I didn't know at all. I can't wait to apply them in my next artworks! :D Thanks a lot! By the way, if it helps, for the color manipulation point, if you wanna have more control, you can use the 'create new fill or adjustment layer' together with the custom layers, individuals or in groups, or the whole piece. That allows you to experiment adjustments more freely avoiding getting back or losing steps in history if something didn't result as you wanted. Well, hope it works! Have a good one!

Jazza, question. You introduced me to clipping masks and they revolutionized the way I paint, and I'm so very grateful for that, but after I got really used to using them, I've kinda toned it down. Lately what I do is I lock the transparency of the layer where before I would have clipped other layers to, and I use the brush settings (because you know how you can have a brush set to multiply and its as if you were painting on a new layer that is set to multiply-- or overlay or color burn, you know, those things) So I feel I use the clipping mask so much less, but Its still essentially the same thing. I would like your opinion on this method.

This is super informative. One thing I don't get though, is at about 6-minutes in, you have a grey/gray foundation which you are going to put a clipping mask over... how do you go about creating that grey shape? Once you have the line work (the drawing of the hand), do you then create a new layer and colour in the grey foundation, possibly just manually with the brush tool, or is there a more convenient way to do that?
