i also love the idea that you can program a chest full of items as a random sequence and pull out an item at a time. That way you don't rely on minecrafts internal RNG and can entirely control everything. You just have to be wary of the items stacking if you want to re-cycle them. In some games, stuff like this is used to prevent the randomness from screwing with you, e.g. preventing long streaks of one output.

I built a chicken-powered wool farm a few years back. They're surprising useful to get around not going to the nether.

Ok we can do this with observers but is there another way, in the fluff of the random generating method ?

I was playing on a server with an OP casino that had this redstone. I clipped through the wall, found mechs and clogged the machine so I'd get Jackpot almost all the time. And I didnt have to pay diamonds nor netherite ingots to pay, cuz I found a way to throw anything into the system to make it work))))

(in the following comment it seems I misremembered a popular suggested concept about redstone ore as something that was removed from the game) in the past glowing redstone ores used to give a redstone signal themselves, but they removed that.
