JB74 Jimny Disable ESC ALL SPEEDS (ESP Maintenance mode)

In this video I show you how to enable and activate the built in ESC Maintenance mode, which allows you to keep ESC off when going over 35kmh, this is useful on surfaces such as soft sand where the ESC assumes you have lost control and brings the car to a halt, usually getting you stuck.
The exact timings in the FSM if you want to add a timer circuit to automate the process is;
Warning light illuminates for 2 seconds after the key is turned on
Within 3 seconds after the light goes out
Press and hold the ESC off button for more than 5 seconds

Thanks very much. Our jimny was dangerous if you went down hill and round a corner in loose gravel, the back brakes would operate in surges and cut power to engine

Hi, useful intel mate thanks. Important question though. I have had a few (3) instances where the rear brake on the left has activated and actually locked the wheel while driving on a sealed road on a few corners. Although not driving fast or dangerously at all when it occurred, it is highly disturbing and I nearly lost control the vehicle on all occasions. Is this the ESC intervening or traction control or are they the same thing? Suzuki have denied all possibilities it's there fault and I am stuck with a car that is potentially dangerous to drive.

ESC keeps you on the road and from accidental wheel spin in 2wd and high 4. Brake LSD is the offroad traction control that activates in low 4. Do you have a lift? If so did you adjust the drag rod to get the wheel straight or follow the tutorials about resetting the steering wheel angle? That seems to be a popular thing in SA but its the wrong way and messes everything up.

@@auszooker the vehicle is lifted but not by me. I bought the Jimny like that. Therefore unsure of any “drag rod or steering wheel angle. What should I be checking?? Thanks!

Did you change your window wiper selector with one from a swift to get the intermittent adjustments?

Yep, it also gives an intermittent position for the rear that doesn't do anything without adding an additional box I made. search JB74 mods on Facebook. You can use an Alto switch to not have that switch position, lots of videos on here about it

Hey sorry Just to clarify, once key is turned off, and back on ESP will be reactivated for normal day to day driving?

Yes, car off and on and it’ll reset to normal

Does this work? photos.app.goo.gl/83bpR3zE8fwyCLZm9 its the white plug with tan and black wires, taped to the harness going to the accel pedal (on RHD cars) If you look around Facebook or Reddit groups there are other photos, sorry I just keep forgetting to take a pic.

@@danyzayat ahhh yeah, LHD is different, glad you found it, another guy I've talked to has been struggling finding it, the manual says it's behind the globebox somewhere

Something usefull to add to make your life easier.Just add a button to your dash(a second fog light switch for instance)then you can switch it on and off when needed without having to climb underneath.

There is no need to touch that once you put it in place, it effects nothing and doesn't do the actual actuating. It's the key and ESC switch sequence combined that does it. My wire had been in place since 2019.
