Regarding justifying the upcharge for the hybrid: RVers towing smaller/lighter travel trailers may have an easier time justifying the cost for one reason - the 7200 watt inverter. The onboard inverter can easily eliminate the need to carry a portable generator and a gas can. Even a 3500 watt portable generator weighs close to 100 lbs, takes up bed space, must be secured and reduces the cargo capacity of the truck. Unless you are boondocking and need to run a generator while your truck is away from camp, the 7200 watt inverter could justify the added cost. This will be particularly true for CA residents who will soon face a ban on the sale of portable generators. It's too bad a similar system isn't offered in a Super Duty for those of us requiring an HD tow rig. Thanks for the review, Justin.

I’ve got 15,000 miles on mine so far in May 2024. I just started getting 26 to 28 miles to the gallon consistently on every trip. Love the power. Very smooth road. Probably the best truck I’ve had in the past 35 years and I had the F350 since 2013.

Hey JB, my pastor has this truck (2021 model) and part of his ministry is to feed the homeless as well as putting up inflatables free of charge at some schools and churches, and what is amazing, this truck can totally run the churches concession trailer which includes popcorn machine, cotton candy, freezer, hot water and more, and uses very little fuel while the power system is running. We found towing the concession trailer we get much better MPG if we use 91-94 octane fuel, but used reg fuel when not towing. The trailer is around 6,000# loaded and gets around 12 with premium fuel, and 8mpg on reg fuel, without towing around 24 mpg or better.. We tow our inflatables with a 2016 F-350 dully with a 2022 ATC 40' gooseneck trailer, love your videos and watch them all, keep them coming JB,, big fan!

The Pro Power on Board is a game changer. Ford knows the truck market probably better than anyone else. They know typical truck buyers aren’t big on green technology so they made green technology a truck feature. It’s a hybrid but it also powers your worksite or your campground. Activities that people do with their trucks. Not only an engineering marvel but a marketing boss move.

23k on my Powerboost. No problems so far.If you pull a Travel Trailer it’s a no brainer. Makes Boone docking a dream.

If I was in the market for a half ton truck, this would be the top of my list to test drive. The onboard power I absolutely if you had a power outage at home and needed to plug in a few items. With that being said 76k and it’s not even a top trim is crazy. Nice breakdown.

My lease is coming up and I’m about to get another F150. I should NOT be wrecking my brain over this Powerboost…but I am. With the cost of it being the same as the regular 3.5L, it’s an option. I don’t tow, I use my bed for my boys bikes, Home Depot mulch and lumber run…..and hauling my photo gear. I currently have a XLT with a 2.7 and it has done fine. I guess I’m just hesitant on the reliability of the Powerboost. I quit! 🥴😩 🤦🏾‍♂️

The hybrid is the best F-150 to own. They discontinued the 3.0PSD in 2021. Pro Power Onboard (high-output AC power) is a lifesaver during an outage - like what’s happening in the Midwest right now, after the ice storm. Millions without power this morning. Payload is lacking but you can’t have it all 🤷‍♂️

I priced a 2024 XLT on Build Your Truck. The difference between the XLT with 3.5 and PB with the 7.2 Kw was around $2200. Where are you going to get 30 HP 70 TQ and 7.2 Kw generator for $2200, without giving up any bed capacity?

Just traded a 21 f150 with 2.7 for a 23 with the power boost it’s crazy how much harder the power boost pulls than the 2.7 this thing is fast

I think you should get one of these trucks and would have your RV and diesel and use that truck for a very long term

The Powerboost replaces the Powerstroke. This is one of the best powertrains available in a half-ton. With 7.2kW power, it can power a house.

This would be tempting for a 1/2 ton. Especially for preppers and people wanting to camp off grid. Cool that the interior plug is a full 20A. But $76k for a mid trim half ton🤔🇺🇸💪

A bit misleading to say its a $3300 difference but its only $1800 more than the ecoboost. Its $3300 up from the base 2.7l. You also get a ton better mileage in city driving.

I would love a hd hybrid with a gas, diesel or a turbo gas engine. The built in generator for the farm, camping, ranch, and hunting would be the Bee’s knees. The uses would be endless from branding cows to running an RV.

That payload is low. My 2021 XLT is equipped very similar to this truck with 5.0 V8, and it has a payload of 1,804. The 3.5 ecoboost would best my number 50 to 100 pounds. The only option that I don't have is the step in the tailgate and the powerboat on the tailgate, but I have the power down on it. The batteries must take a lot off the payload.

Not going to lie, the Ford does have some nice features. Hate the double-decker headlights. Seems like Ford and GMC can't figure out how to have a single row. At that expense too, LED lighting should have been standard on everything. The only other comment I would make is that the Tundra Hybrid out towards this truck by a lot, 3500 pounds. Fanboys always argue that the Ford does more, not at this trim level.

You pay a lot for this truck for sure. This is not a purchase for the average buyer or faint of heart. The MSRP is enough alone to give one a coronary. I own the 2021 Lariat 501a and love it and have been happy to have added it to our fleet, so far. It’s all about the overall versatility and if you will use or benefit from the high tech features. I think as far as CR is concerned, that one, should be taken with a grain of salt and do one’s own due diligence. For the record I pd $65k on a $68k truck with Fords sixty month financing and @ 0% interest. Don’t think you can realise that same deal today but giver that old college try. Like this ol boy you might be able to own the vehicle you want and need using Fords money to own it and interest free to boot. I wish all the very best on your next purchase. JL

Too bad they don't offer the f150 with hybrid and heavy duty payload package. Maybe a gvwr like the last generation 8200 would be nice to have cause that truck had the max tow but with payload you'd probably not be able to use it all.

I had a Powerboost go a short time. Was unreliable and started to having problems at 15k miles. Got rid of it quickly

DON'T BELIEVE THE STICKER MILEAGE! I have a 2023 F150 Hybrid Lariat with 7400miles and am sending it back via Lemon Law. There have been so many electric programing issues it isn't worth the money anymore. The sticker noted 23mpg city/hwy is also way off. I drive pretty conservatively and at best I'm getting 22Hwy and 18City but the combined is at best 19mpg. At this point the hybrid engine barely kicks on anymore. Don't get me wrong though. It is a beautiful truck and very comfortable drive with a ton of speed and power. Towing is a whole other issue. I towed a 4800lb gvwr getting about 8mpg. I understand the I wouldn't get normal mpg but was hoping for at least 12mpg. All I can say at this point is Buyer Beware!

Too much complexity for down the road when it's off warranty. $1500 plus more expensive than the standard 3.5. 3 mpg difference between the two? That will take me about 5 years of miles to makeup cost difference.

The price of this truck is why Ford is having sales problems. Ford is taking the opinion of the Gov., we're all fools!

$76k!!! for 23 mpg?! Hell no! This truck isn’t worth $50k!!! It should have a Lithium Ion battery instead of NiMH and it should get 30mpg! With todays interest rates, very few people will buy this.

I have got to say. This truck after a year is so annoying to drive. I have never experienced a vehicle that is so insecure. This thing can't go 30 seconds without some warning screen or bell or ridiculously loud horn honk. It's like a toddler. You constantly have to reassure it that you know what your doing and they aren't settings that you can turn off without paying Someone. ( trust me, I've looked) It never makes you feel like you own it or are smart enough to drive it. It just can't get over itself. For all of the tech on board, the app is trash. It won't tell you if one of your kids didn't shut the door when unloading groceries or if you forgot to lock it at the mall but it will be sure to notify you if your local dealer has something on sale. It's like I'm renting it just waiting for the electric involuntary seat belt to come whizzing over my shoulder so I can start it. It is tech for techs sake. As a machine, it works great and does everything I need well. I just wish it would understand who owns it.

This f150 is super nice. However these lariats are just too much. From the price to all the useless electronics that they add. Maybe im a little old fashioned, but i don’t need trailer backup assist or blue cruise or 25 different camera views to drive a pickup. And as far as that hybrid crap….they can keep it.
