First time hearing this genre bending track; Moratorium; from band-maid reacting to this live version with analysis, breakdown, guitar, bass, drum and keyboard parts explained for that HUGE chorus. I'm analysing this form the point of view of a guitar tutor and professional musician.
Like the rest of the stuff on my channel, this is more informational than perhaps a lot of reacts type videos, so hopefully you'll find something cool and useful in there!

This was great. You're doing something no one else that I have seen is doing. I'm not a musician, but I like to get a better idea of what's going on. If I had to represent Band-Maid with one song, this might be it. Dirty, grungy riffs transition into an almost pop bridge and then back into it, all with some beautiful vocals over the top of it all. But I think this is just my #2 favorite however. The next song in the set, Puzzle, being #1 for me. There is also a beautiful acoustic version of Puzzle where it is just Kanami and Saiki performing the song. So if you happen to do Puzzle, it might be interesting to check out the acoustic version later and break down how they made a heavy rock song into a beautiful acoustic piece. I would definitely be interested in that. I'm sure many others would as well because Puzzle is a Maidiac favorite.

At the end of this song they are going directly into Puzzle. Talk about a one two punch! You can see Saiki's exhaustion at the end of Moratorium during the last crowd participation and without missing a beat they still blast into their most complicated and emotional track. I think I would collapse as an audience member, seriously. But hey, these girls do not dilly dally.

As usual, loved the breakdown. I really delighted in your expression when they dove into the "dirty sludge" near the end. I can listen to this song over and over as it roves from genre to genre and style to style while still sounding like a single song and not some frankenmusic monstrosity. I'd really like to hear you do that more detailed review of minor-major changes and the rules that govern it (something I know absolutely nothing about). Thanks again for doing more Band Maid, always up to hear your analysis.

Terrific!!. I love when you apologize for stopping just after two seconds into the video, trademark! LOL. Great insights with this one Jack, a lot of new information in a song I may have listened easily five hundred times. That comparison with Black Sabbath is a recurrent conversation theme between the maidiacs, I think it´s a great compliment to the band. And "Expecting the unexpected" could be the quote that can best define their style of songwriting (I will probably use it in the future citing the source). Actually they have settled into a more prog-metal creative trend, but I love to listen to their phase of dirtier guitars every now and then. BIG THANKS!! Even with this being one of their older songs, Moratorium is still among my top-5 Band-Maid songs of all time. I saw them perform live in a small venue in New York in 2019, and when they played Moratorium, it was the loudest and most energetic thing I've ever experienced. In this particular performance, you can hear the synth at the end going directly into my favorite Band-Maid song, Puzzle. Immaculate reaction as ever! Man, you've got to react to "Without Holding Back" and "Giovanni Instrumental" from them. Both instrumentals and truly epic. You won't just dissect and analyse them, you'll fall in love. I know you've already reacted to Giovanni before but without vocals it's like a different track, Kanami's guitars are more turned up in these and that main riff in Giovanni that's barely audible with vocals is just thunderous! It's like the soundtrack of existence, the universe and all within🤘

@@JbfMusicGuitar I second those suggestions - instrumental bliss, both of them - but Giovanni is so proggy you won't believe it - very experimental yet very enjoyable and more change-ups than you can count. (a lot more). The instrumental version will be hard to find, but if you do you can follow it up with the main audio track as it works equally well, yet on a totally different level, as an instrumental or the track on the album with vocals.

Moratorium is awesome, a fan favorite, an absolute banger, and the best use I've ever heard of "Dilly Dally" in a rock song. Great breakdown as always. Adding so much context to music that I already love. I'm so happy that you were able to "venture off of YT" finally. I know creators are always a bit worried about the risk. But now that you have taken the leap, it's time for you to meet what is IMHO the crown-jewel of Band Maid songs. It immediately follows this performance of Moratorium from the live STUDIO COAST show. Puzzle is amazing, and I will be very surprised if your reaction/analysis is under a half hour. :) There is a widely loved acoustic version of Puzzle as well, but I think it's important, especially for a musician like yourself to hear the live version from this show first. So you get an appreciation for the song. After analyzing Puzzle and Daydreaming... which I know you already have in your queue... I think you'll be hard pressed to find another band as impressive as Band-Maid. World domination indeed.

Many thanks Matt! It's more copyright stuff that's a problem, a lot of these get demonised and some just get outright blocked, there's a whole process you can go through, but it can take around 2-3 months per song can sometimes just ends up in you getting a strike. That was amazing Jack! I never understand the downvotes...must be from the pausing that you give plenty of warning about. Moratorium is one of my top 5 BM songs. Listening to your analysis really drives home the thought and care the ladies put into these songs. As others mentioned...Puzzle was right after this. Many BM fans have both of those songs in their top 5 or 10. I think you would thoroughly enjoy analyzing Puzzle. Seeing those two songs back to back must have been amazing for the concert goers.

Cheers dude, appreciate it. Yeah more or less sure it's because of the pausing, gotta to admit it is a wee bit annoying cause the breakdowns and stuff mean a lot more time and effort go in to these than an 'oh wow' reaction, but it is what it is. Should really learn my lesson and just half-ass it, lol! Yeah, looks like Puzzle will be bumped up the list after all these comments 🤘

Live Moratorium! Yes! That is one of the best Band-Maid videos. The 9.5 Richter scale created throughout the final 30 seconds when MISA matches her bass with Akane's double kicks while the crowd is chanting its lungs out, man that may be the best rock music moment in decades. That was funny when you photoshopped their faces during your presentation, but all kidding aside, that MISA/Akane combo, when it comes to rock music rhythm sections, those 2 together might be the best in the business bar none. Overall, yet another of your great analyses and tutorials as always, Jack! Thank you for your time and sharing your expertise. Oh, at 17:07 you mentioned having discussed Nirvana's "Lounge Act". You had talked about that at 2 56 into your breakdown video of "Manners": kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fseCbLR6rrfZqqs.html Now that you've seen Moratorium live, you should check out some of the fan cam footage filmed of it that includes the other band members clearing the stage for Kanami to open the song with an epic guitar solo: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nbKIfMmivuCZpZc.html .

@@JbfMusicGuitar I figure since there is k-pop, j-pop, j-rock, j-metal etc. they're all respective to country of origin. That being said, does a band have to originate from said country to fall under that genre? I suppose so to some degree... its also about the sound as well... more specifically as it relates to j-pop, j-rock, j-metal as they each have a very unique sound to them as you're learning. But, does The Warning classify as m-rock/m-metal as they're from Mexico or... since they originate in the West already they just fall under hard rock/metal? Anywho... if you decide to check out Scandal I would recommend starting with the song Masterpiece - this was released shortly after they formed their own label. Plenty of live performances from them to check out as well.

I try my best to tell everyone that's what I'm gonna do- I usually mention it, put a pinned comment saying this: ⚠️🚨💥 !!!WARNING!!! 💥🚨⚠️ While this is my first time hearing the song and reacting to it, I will paused frequently for the 'music analysis' part and explain some of the cool stuff going on, review it and add other informational commentary. Put that ^ in the description as well and have 'Analysis' in the title. This approach isn't for everyone, but I'm sure there are plenty of low input reactions on KZfaq, which will be more up your street!
