This folk song is a simile of "sweet charming Filipina folk lady" to butterfly (paru-paro) displaying her charm & beautiful Aura in the road of farmland....

👏 👏 👏 I am teary eyed and speechless. It was such a joyful interpretation of a song from my childhood. It brings back memories of my small hometown where people knew and cared for each other, sang and danced together, celebrated fiestas and holidays as a community. Those were the days......

Just a little piece of trivia the paru parong bukid song was popularized during the turn of the 1900s in Spanish colonial Philippines was a protest song to describe the usually chaste women who fluttered like butterflies and cavorted the Spaniard authorities into sexual interludes. A form of artistic expression similar to how the Argentine tango came about from the brothels.

After polishing the voices , some swaying of movements, especially the hips , heads, and hands would likely give more lively rendition and recognition of the choir's efforts!

great interpretation! and kudos on getting the pronunciation right! cheers from the Philippines the original lyrics of this folk song is in Spanish and is entitled "Mariposa Bella". "Paru-parong Bukid" is said to be a poor translation of the original Spanish, and was only popularised during the 1920s-1930s. i think you could substitute the original spanish lyrics to this great arrangement by Hernandez :)
