My loose translation for those who don't know Tagalog: 1. How I wish my old days as a child in my mother's presence won't fade. I wish to hear my mother's song once more, a song of love while I'm in the cradle. 2. While I sleep with so much silence, the stars are my guard and my watchmen. In my mother's bosom, my life is heaven. My sorrowful heart misses the cradle's rocking. (repeat 1 and 2) (coda) I want to sleep in my old cradle, o Mother....

another translation I hope that my memory of days past when I was just a small child in my mother’s comforting embrace shall not fade. I wish that I could still listen to the song of love that my beloved mother would sing to me as she gently rocks me to sleep nestled in my cradle. I would fall in deep slumber with celestials as my watchers and stars as my guardians. Heaven was in my mother’s arms. My grieving heart still longs for when I was still in my cradle being rocked to sleep. B

Levi Celerio the lyricist of this song claimed once during his interview that he drew inspiration of this song from Mothers who were members of Guerilla Movement during WWII against Japanese Imperial Forces...Mothers who would make their Children sleep before going to battle which mostly didn't came back home...how heartbreaking...

Excellent arrangement & rendition. Though many consider this a lullaby, the lyrics are from the child's (albeit matured child) point of view. I appreciate the choir's decision to take on a difficult song.
