JBL Flip 5 is my favourite Bluetooth speaker of 2020. The charge 5 is louder, bigger, bassier and brighter but it's bigger, heavier and pricier. which one is your favourite?

Have the Charge 5. Heard the Charge 4 and Flip 5. They all sound similar when placed close or in small rooms. Once you bring them outside or in a big room, the Charge 5 is fuller, brighter, and louder.

I so agree. I have 2 flip 5's and 2 charge 5's and outdoors you get a fuller, brighter bigger sound. There is also more bass. Both are great and better than any China speakers you can get.

kudos to you for this thorough review. i have seen too many "reviewers" that do nothing more than read the manufacturers claims on the box, parrot some sales literature, and then power up a brand new device and call it a review video. its all BS. but YOU ARE ACTUALLY THE REAL THING. sure... i bought the wonderboom2. all these reviewers simply parroted "10 hours of battery life", well... i actually used it... full volume or 1 or 2 clicks below... first time it died after 5 hours. second time it died after 3.5 hours.... aaaaand... there is no 3rd time... because it wont charge or power on now. i had it clipped to my dry bag on my paddleboard for 6-6.5 hour trips on a river. splashed plenty but never submerged. soooo... after watching your video, i greatly appreciate your thoroughness. what did it for me especially was when you had both speakers in a side-by-side test in your backyard at increasing distances. i know the claim is 20 hours, but if i can just get 7 hours tops at 80-90% volume, then i will be happy. the charge5 is bulkier, but i absolutely need that battery life... and the better sound will be a bonus. thank you for the tear down to show the quality of components and build. thank you for the decibel measurements. thank you for the side-by-side outdoor comparison. thank you for the spectrum analysis. thank you for the tear down. cheers!

Great comparison. You're in the UK right? - it seems that all colours of the Charge 5 in the UK are now the ND version (supposedly less clear treble than the TL versions, though better built internally and stronger drivers ...which maybe are not as responsive as a result). Is your Charge 5 an ND (first two letter of the serial number under the back rubber flap), oh and what about the Flip 5 while you're at it! Would be useful info to have. Many thanks.

That Flip 5 is remarkable. At half the size, half the weight, and less than half the price, the Charge 5 is not that much better. Clearly the Charge 5 is louder with better base, and the highs are clearer... but not so much that it's worth more than twice the cost, weigh two times more, and the size of two Flip 5s. I have both the Flip 5 and the Charge 4, and it is AMAZING how good the Flip 5 is. I am not perfectly convinced to get the Charge 5-- yet.

@@mikepotapa5773 I use my Charge 4 outdoors and it can easily be too loud. I understand that the Charge 5 is better, but truly there is nothing wrong, at all with the Charge 4 at $50 less.

Well, I had heard the tt models are the best. I have 2 tt flip 5's which are the red color and I have 2 camo charge 5's which are also tt's. So if you want tt of either those colors are tt, don't know about if other colors are also tt. I am happy with the sound but like I said the internet people are saying tt is the best or tl, but please do your own research as I dont have the others to compare the sound with.

I have the grey charge 5 and It’s the NT MODEL . It’s loud as hell and sounds amazing. I really can’t see there being THAT MUCH sound difference in sound quality between the diff serial number models .

Yes. The charge 5 is bigger but still portable. Almost the same length but bigger around quite a bit. You can still grab it with one hand around the belly. It has landing pad or base at the bottom for setting it on flat surfaces.

Sounds like charge 5 is more for gardens and bbqs and the flip 5 is more for small gatherings and having a chill session ur room but they do sound sick togther I have both aswel but charge 5 defo has more of a se round sound to it amd has more of a distance travling sound flips is for close gatherings

Say 50 to 60 % volume playback on both. Would you know their battery life based on that volume levels roughly?

That volume is what is considered normal use, so it would be as advertised, 12H for flip 5 and 20H for the Charge 5.

Can I please get your opinion on this? It's hard for me to decide because I'm not getting the true audio quality from my device...only way I could decide is if I was right in front of the speakers.

It depends on what you use it for, so for taking it on holidays or on a bike flip 5 is more than enough, but if you want it for garden, Dance lessons or house parties the Charge 5 is better as its louder.

I have charge 5 and flip 5 play together indore is awsome in party mod i will trie them outdoor.. charge 5 is betther biger bass louder and can charge but flip 5 is not bad i like itt when u need somthing in smaller room flip4 have good sound too ..charge 4 missing the twiter but big bass i think its bigger then charge 5 i want now pulse 4 too have Nice Party-boost …I have party box 100, and boombox 1 too

Why don't they make a better way to mount this??? I have the flip 5 and use the velcro strap on a vertical square tube on one side of golf cart would love to mount horizontally behind my ears !

Im not sure if this guy is doing a bad job of comparing the two. Or if a camera microphone just isn’t doing it justice. Or if that Flip 5 is really giving that Charge 5 a run for its money. Cuz ive owned a flip 3, and charge 2 and charge 3. And there was no comparison. But in this video that Flip 5 seems to be really close in sound quality and dba compared to the Charge5. If u trynna save money get a Flip5. But if u just want the best and have the money to spend obviously get a Charge5. But based on this video there isnt a major gap. But again. Watching a video and having them both in person is two completely different situations. Videos never do sound quality justice. When it comes to sound, it’s literally u have to feel or hear it to believe it.

They have those silicone covers/ with strap on Amazon. 2 carabiners with an adjustable strap. Both for the flip 5 and charge 5. They offer a little protection to the speaker as well. Be careful which ones you get though there are a couple of these that block the sound of the speaker by covering the front instead of other location around the belly. Dont get the one that blocks the front side with the jbl logo.

Charge 5 is bassier but the flip 5 is also good, so no need to upgrade if you you are happy with the flip 5.

Flip 5 if you want a tiny speaker with a lot of bass, Flip 4 sounds crisper and has bass too. According to people's reviews, they are not so satisfied with Charge 4, but, I have never used Charge 4 and can't give you my opinion. Maybe, go to Flip 5 or Charge 5

Same bro, it is not also available yet here in my country (philippines). Will patiently wait. I really like the charge 5 due to its mids and treble. It is really hard to see speakers that has a good mid and treble and a bass that will not overpower the other 2 main frequencies ❤️

I just bought mine a few days ago,and I have 2 HomePod minis paired in stereo and the charge is like 50 times louder haha but I love both

@@MoNeYMlKE420 i also have the charge 3 and 5 and my brother has the flip 5. The flip 5 has pretty much the same loudness as the charge 3 but much better sound all around. I have a bunch of other speaker systems at home too. But those are the only portable ones.
