A Jbl Horizon 2 Dab radio Bluetooth speaker unboxing, setup, review and sound test! This is a great little dab radio Bluetooth speaker for the bedroom. In this video I give a quick unboxing, setup, review and sound test of this great little bedroom gadget! I'm not saying this is the best Bluetooth speaker, but it has a great sound as it features that powerful JBL Pro sound! This radio has both FM and DAB radio functionality too!
If you're looking for a JBL Bluetooth speaker review then you're in the right place! We love all tech here at mytechtalks, but we love Bluetooth speakers, especially JBL Bluetooth speakers! This particular review is for the JBL Horizon 2 DAB clock/radio where I also give it a thorough sound test.
So, if you're looking for a decent quality, great sounding Bluetooth speaker with a tuner, then the JBL Horizon 2 DAB is a great buy at a very reasonable price. Although at £119.99 in the UK, it's not in everyone's price range I know!

Looks like a very cool little thing. You made the best video on it I've seen yet. I've got one question though: Can the waking signal also be something that is played automatically through bluetooth? Do you have to leave that one song playing on repeat the whole night for it to be playing when the alarm goes off? Or how does that work?

Thanks a lot 👍. Regarding your question, I honestly have no idea as I haven't got into that yet. I would presume that the alarm is a set sound on the clock radio itself, or a radio station that has been pre-tuned and selected so you're woken by the radio. I'll probably do a video on that after Xmas when people have these types of things as gifts and need 'how to tutorials'. Thanks for your comment, much appreciated 👍

Hi nice video. Does the normal alarm still go off when paired with my smartphone? I sometimes get urgent calls during the night but don’t wanna sleep with my phone next to me.

Nice review. How long will it play music after the alarm sounds. I had a previous version of the Horizon but gave it to my brother because when i set the alarm with radio it only played for about 5 minutes before shutting off. My previous alarm clock would play for about 1 hour after the alarm would go off. Once again nice review.

To be honest I don't actually know as I've never used the alarm. The good thing is it has 2 alarms so you've got a back up if needed. Thanks a lot for the positive review 👍

I wanted to buy one of this but I want to ask if the bass is good, let's say playing a bass heavy song? is it any good?

@laptilusbasilus5017 It's not bad for what it is, but not as good as the flip 6 or charge 5 for example. It's a clock radio you have to appreciate. It does have a really good sound though with decent bass. Checkout my video where I put it against the flip 6. Bear in mind, neither sound as good on a recorded video as they do in real life.

I would loved if you can set the dimmable light. For me it's not bright enough at night time. I have one myself .

How did you dimmed the lights ?^ my one is always on and often randomly blinks and I do not know how to turn it off/ dim it without turning the alarms off 😅

It reacts to its surrounding light, what's in the room. A bright light indoors and it stays bright. Turn the lights down very low or off, and it will dim automatically, hopefully 🤞👍

Yep, sounds like it's constantly confused and changing. It should stay dim at night though when no lights are on and it's dark. If it doesn't then it might have a fault and you should send it back.

Own the old one in black and use it for years now, but it has a few thingies. Can you pair 2 now or with another jbl box? Might upgrade and buy my wife the same while we're renovating the bedroom. How 'smudgeproof' is the white version. Version 1 in black looked best to me back then, full black face. This grey-ish does appeal to blend in with our color scheme. Oh and can you set the alarm max volume, the old one keeps increasing to screamingly loud when press snooze and hit the shower and it goes off again, waking up the whole house.

No you can't pair it with other jbl speakers unfortunately. I was in two minds between the two colours, as tell the truth neither are that great, but think grey just edges it, and it looks much nicer in real life, and it don't smudge at all, at least not yet! Not sure about the alarm as never used it.

How do you switch it to the battery if its not plugged up?

You don't. It's built in, so it automatically turns to the battery when you disconnect it from the electric mains power. You can see this because when you connect it to the mains again you'll see its kept the correct time.
