A quick review and bluetooth audio demo of the new PRX ONE line array

I just opened mine and put it through some tests, note I'm a live musician and have worked with a lot of mixers in the past. I never noticed an issue with the tower sway, mine seats up solid. I did notice the movement on the knobs but have seen this a lot on soft knobs. The EQ and mixer do what they're designed to do in my opinion. I'm excited to get this thing out and play live through it. Then I'll be able to offer better feedback. Thanks for the review.

@@Kaledrums the big thing I noticed in practicing through it this weekend was the app mixer is a little hard to use and the EQ settings seem a little glitchy. Overall, I was able to get the tone I wanted on all channels and great volume.

All line arrays have column sway. A lot of people have made an issue of it with the Bose L1s but from what I’ve seen is a common issue but unlikely to cause a problem. ThT being said I do believe there is a optional column support you can buy if you feel it is a problem

@@billystarcher8146the app is really frustrating trying to get the exact # on the faders. They really need a +/- button on each fader The ipad app opens up A LOT of functionality but the UX is less than stellar But since there's no gain staging you can adjust everything on the fly wirelessly with an ipad I use the JBL Eon One Mark2 and already need more output so PRX One here we go.

Helpful sound samples, and even more helpful sharing of your views at the end. Pre-ordered one from Thomann here in Germany, due to arrive at the end of August. Will compare it with my HK Audio Polar 10 for use as a solo and duo acoustic performer running various guitars, stompbox bassdrum pedal, etc.

Thank you for watching. My biggest advice for now, is when you get it, take the time to learn and EQ the system. Given the depth of the menu and the time constraints on KZfaq, I wish I could of dived deeper into the system for all of you. Thanks again.
@scottbecker34853 жыл бұрын
@@Kaledrums Your advice is much appreciated, and I will, indeed, follow it. Though I am kind of well prepared for all the app settings by having previously watched a few other videos, including JBL's own (lengthy and informative) presentation of the entire product in an interview by the chief product engineer with Aaron Short (who has an excellent YT channel). I have an RCF M18 digital mixer, so making such settings (compression, EQ, effects, feedback control, etc.) is not new to me. I expressly opted for the PRX One due to its user-tweakable settings and great (Lexicon) reverb, not to mention ample number of inputs for my various guitars, mandolin, bass, stompbox rhythm pedal, BeatBuddy, etc. The effects make it possible to gig in a very lean-and-mean way, without the need for my wonderful-but-huge pedalboard. OK, my boutique efffects no doubt sound a bit better, but the JBL's will be quite sufficient, I am sure. Many column systems have no or crippled effects, or lack compression, or suffer from "preset-only" limitations that castrate one's ability to tweak as needed. If this thing sounds authentic enough (after EQing, of course, in order to alleviate the "mids hole" of such systems), it'll serve me as an all-in-one solution for my solo gigs, as well as for my duo.

@@Kaledrums I’m loving my evolve 50m. Great investment
@DavidPierceCHT2 жыл бұрын
Mine arrived yesterday. Once I got it assembled and running, the first issue I encountered was related to listening position - standing vs seated. When standing, the top of the column is at the average persons head height. The audio was full range - rich lows through nice, airy, highs. As soon as I sat down, boom! - highs GONE instantly - leaving only lows through high mids. This is probably due to the unit’s relatively narrow, vertical, look angle (30 deg). My test space is small and I could only get 10 ft away from the unit. At that distance some of the highs started to return. Perhaps further out the sound spectrum would expand more. That said, my impression is that this unit is not suited for intimate, sit-down venues. Better suited for events where folks will be up on their feet. Volume wise - It scared my wife and my cats. It’ll do 😉🤭

Nice system, I prefer my Bose for several reasons. The ease of just getting great sound without tweaks Bose is fantastic. Plug and play. I usually don’t have time to sit and tweak the sound. Nice features that the Jbl offers were you can make adjustments to get better sound. Also prefer the reach and smoother coverage of the Bose. But all in all this is not a bad system. More of a learning curve with this unit but it’s not horrible.
@marcelchaloupka Жыл бұрын
That’s not particularly accurate and depends on which Bose L1 you’re using. The JBL system is equivalent to the Bose L1 Pro32 and is considerably cheaper than the Bose 32. Also as for plug and play that depends on if your personal gear is matched in the Bose tone matching. The Bose 32 has no upper mid and lower mids with no way of fixing it. The. One is brutal the stand near. The Bose is heavier with 3 components compared to the 2 part of the JBL. The Bose only has 3 channels and the JBL has 7 channels

I like the capabilities, it offers and thinking about replacing a pair of 12 inch active speakers (Yamaha DBR12's), with outtboard mixer for my backline PA for my keyboards (organ, piano etc), electric guitar and windsynth(sax). What are your thoughts regarding pairing this unit with a home karaoke system (Magic Sing for example) located in a living room or family room? Would it be too much? Would I be better off with a pair of bookshelf speakers and a sub woofer?

This would be fine. Granted this unit is design for live performance. However, thats what volume controls are for. Go make it happen.

What's ur take on this going against the electro voice Evo 50?
@Kaledrums3 жыл бұрын
It's a different beast. It has the mixer and effect I like, like the EV30 , and the the size of speakers from the Evolve 50 I like. The 50 in my opinion hits harder but isn't as clear on top. You have to fiddle with it. Now, if you're asking which one I like more? It's the Evolve 50.

I have learned that EV has a 6-7 channel mixer Evolve 50. For 1999.99 it may be worth it

So I just got a pair today. Got home and set them up and there's NO SOUND!!! No Bluetooth or signal is coming in. Smh....
@Kaledrums3 жыл бұрын
You have to go in to the menu, down to settings etc connect Bluetooth audio paring, make sure the device you're using like your phone or computer is turned up. then turn the volume up on your Bluetooth channel, which is channel 7 also make sure the volume on the unit is turned up as well. Best of luck!

@@Kaledrums thanks for the heads up. can you let me know your eq settings?
@Kaledrums3 жыл бұрын
@@coreyadams6916 I've returned the unit, but if I can remember correctly I was about three quarters up on both lows and highs, and at about 3.8 with mids.

@@Kaledrums Thanks for the video. Why did return? :( Im looking for a PA with best accurate wide frequency. Do you think IRX100 series are good?

U will have to buy a reverb unit cos the reverb in the prx one is totally crap .and way to hard to adjust no directions and no one on KZfaq don't even no how to adjust but I can promise U this pa is Total crap
@jadestewart35192 жыл бұрын
This pa been put together very very cheap. Even old school winding knobs.the reverb is totally unusable.& U cannot even plug in a separate reverb unit cos no return & send. No manual .this is not a professional pa.its nothing more than a cheep karaoke machine.and the mic & reverb not even fit for that.worth no more than $500 max. I would not recommend this JBL prx one to any one.
