Tip/suggestion: Use two larger bowls. The bigger the better but the second one needs to be as close to half the diameter/width of the outside bowl. This is so if you place the nut in the middle, the mouse will have to walk all the way in... The bigger the bowl, the further the distance in the mouse needs to travel, the further out it needs to jump before the bowl lands... you get it.

You take a bucket and fill it 1/2 way with water. Then place the 1/2 filled bucket of water on a chair right under the edge of the table. Then slide the bowl and rat over to the edge of the table so that the rat falls into the bucket and drowns.

This is really good. I just cought a mouse with this trap. If you use bigger bowl for the top bowl it will work better. One thing is that you will have to use bowls you don’t want because it will be full of poops after you wake up to check the trap.

Ok so you caught the rat in the bowl but how are you going to get it out of there? Show us that. Just catching it doesn't mean anything. Once you slide the bowl to the edge of the table, it will slip out and run off. So what is the purpose of this trap?

You get their tail out from under the bowl and grab it as its trapped, with thick gloves on. Dispose of how you see fit.

Yesss!!! I used a bowl method. Two bowls. One small, he’d up by a peanut. Bigger bowl held up on the edge of the smaller bowl to trap the mouse. Then a hammer to hold the weight. Caught it the first night! Trying the candy method tonight! Using candy corn in lieu of tootsie roll.

Hmmmm, I have a mouse for about 6 months. Somehow he manages to come and go as he chooses. I have tried every trap imaginable AND I have 3 cats. He/she has outsmarted at each and every attempt.

Have you sealed all the cracks in the walls? Mice can wedge themselves through very small spaces. Also, is it a mouse or a rat? Your cats may catch the mouse if they feel like it. But they will probably not want to tangle with a vicious wild rat that is almost as big as they are.

@@TheSanityInspector no, it’s a mouse. I’ve seen it. I live on a bottom apartment and I think it goes in and out of different apartments. I think that’s why I only see him periodically. He always seems to come up under the stove and manages to avoid traps very well. Smart little bougar! Tried regular mouse trap, sticky paper, poisons etc under the stove, but nothing has stopped him.

Once when i was a kid, i got a tall glass jar with a plastic lid, made a hole in the middle of it, just large enough to fit the mouse to enter and managed to trap him in the next day. You could try

The upper bowl needs to be on a frictionless edge say 5 cm high so large rats can access easily and bowl falls down.

Try with a larger bowl so the rat/mouse has to go all the way inside to get the peanut.

Question. What do you do with the rat once you trap him under the bowl? If you move the bowl, he gone.

Exactly! This just looks like a home project and that rat is probably a pet. The trap itself is questionable and not a good way to trap wild rats. Good way to mess with pet rats though.

You could put silicone sealant along the rim and suffocate it.

You wear gloves, and get his tail to poke out from under the glass bowl. Grab his tail and dispose however you see fit.

Not so effective, sucessful rate is too low, can only catch one rat each time, and I wonder how to remove it afterwards.

Now, I've thought about this.... You could get a thin firm sheet of something like aluminum or plywood and slide it under the bowl while it is still upside down. IF the flat material you slide under the bowl is about the same size as the bowl you could tape the two together snugly. Then you can turn the whole thing over and carry it anywhere.
