I got some parts for the JD 8300 drill from JD and was really surprised at the price being cheap ! I needed a seed cup for the grass seeder part of it and figured it being plastic was going to be $40 or $50, Nope ! $10.48 for that cup and had one in stock so I got it and a new rubber seed tube and the clips for the top and bottom and a new #41 chain master link and walked out only spending $40.89 ! That don't happen to often ! Well it was time to put that cup on and it wasn't to bad of a job to put on, Just time consuming . I found out there were no video's on youtube about this so I figured I would make one. I'm really glad it was the end one that needed to be changed and not one half way down the line ! LOL I hope you enjoy and can see how it goes together. Bandit

I am finding that your channel is reality farming for an awful lot of us out here. It is nice to watch someone else who farms like we have. We can't always have new equipment to farm with. We have this very seeder. Very helpful

I never really though about it before but I guess it is, I grew up with a lot of the old timers around and I guess a lot of them rubbed off on me. I used to want new equipment but I got over that idea , When you start figuring out the cost of it to the cost per acre used in a year it just doesn't work for the bottom line. Its hard to think about new when you have a disk (MM) that I've owned sense 1984 with like new disks on it still that still work good ! Spend the least amount posable a year and make as much as you can is what I have learned to stay in business ! LOL Still a lot of JD 8300 drills out there being used and as long as they work why not keep using them ? I looked on KZfaq for a video to see how this came apart or fix one and found none, So I figured it would be a good time to make one being I had to fix this one. I hope it helps even one guy out in how to change one, That makes it worth making this video to me. Helping a fellow farmer out. Bandit

Thank You zim zim, When I make a video I ask myself what would I like to see in it and its the way I shoot it. Mom and dad are doing fine but they both are staying out of the heat and in the AC ! Cant blame them for that. Bandit

Well I got parts from John Deere to fit a couple of things on the 8300 grain drill. I needed a new plastic seed cup for the grass seeder to fix it. I had looked on KZfaq for a video to show how this came apart and went back together but couldn't find one ! So I'm making one so others can see how it goes together. I had to clean up some of the parts and take a file to the plastic cup to take the edge off it so this would slide together easer and it does now. I've never taken one of these apart before so this is a new one for me. I hope you enjoyed and can see how it goes together and helps someone out when they need to change one. I'm really glad it was the end one and not one 1/2 way down the line ! That would have been really fun ! Bandit

I was really surprised at the cost of the parts for this drill, I figured that plastic seed cup was going to $50 $60 easy but $10 ! WOW ! Now I can handle this kind of price ! Funny how sometimes OEM is cheaper than aftermarket ! Bandit

We had to put all new metering seed wheels on our Great Plains and had to un bolt each seed cup.I’m afraid that’s what you have to do and they are all going to go off one end or the other.

I got lucky and it was an end one ware it comes apart. I was pretty easy to fix even if I had never fixed one before ! I did find today I have one of the seed cups on the grain box that I need to fix and I really hope I don't have to take it all apart to fix it. But it looks like the pin came out of it and it let the slider part come out too far, I hope I can tap it back in place and put a new pin in it and get it working again. Bandit

Bandit farmer I added the stinking comment before I watched the whole video.I got thinking after words,to change one mid ship what about trying to find a piece of tubing to fit that square drive shaft.If you could find a piece of tubing you could cut the shaft on each side of the seed cup replace the cup and slide tubing over shaft and tack weld it.

Good fix. Ok I am a pain, but what is up with the Case ignition switch.

Thank You Frank, Well right now its just on the back burner , Other things take priority right now. I just have to find a switch and make it fit. When I order one (4 times) from CaseIH (Giving them part # out of my parts book) I keep getting the wrong one. So I have to find a key switch and install a push button switch for the preheater. So its a little different switch . Bandit

Only thing left to do is put the new press wheel on when it comes and put some hose on the grass seeder cup down to the seed tubes hose. Simple fixes I like ! Bandit

Are the old original feed cups plastic or cast metal?
@banditfarmer1900
@banditfarmer1900 6 жыл бұрын
On this drill they are plastic as originals . This is the first time I have ever worked on one of the seeder cups on any drill I've had . I learned a thing or two by working on this one. Bandit

Ok, I had the older JD version of the 8300, I cant remember the model number of them and I think they were cast feed cups. I did like you did, I just happened to know where they were hiding and made a great buy on them. People laughed and asked why I was buying that old crap, but it sure beat the price of new stuff.
