We had a 12' IH grain drill and we attached a 12' Brillion packer behind. We had 2 SCV sets we could use but the drill only required one and the packer had no wheels or hydraulics to raise/lower. That was back in the 70s/80s. We have since upgraded to a 30' folding grain / seed drill and a 45' Mandako roller.

How do you like the Mandanko roller? I saw a nice 20 foot a couple years ago and they looked pretty nice

Hey Mike, thank your dad for taking us with him planting. Not everyone likes to be on camera but I enjoyed him taking the time. He makes it look easy. Also you had great shots on the drone of you and dad in the same field. Just curious as to why you don’t plant or combine? Thanks for sharing.
@mikep78103 жыл бұрын
Thanks Pete. Planting has always been his thing. I've always been the one to work ahead of him and get the fields ready to plant doing the plowing/disking. It works out well because by the time my dad gets all his seed deliveries made he can hop on the tractor and come behind me and plant. I have combined before. I have a video up doing oats last year but usually my dad does it. I'm the only one on the farm with a CDL so I like doing the trucking

would you be better off to pull a double roller cultipacker behind the drill?
@mikep78102 жыл бұрын
That would be a good idea. We only have the 1 hydraulic outlet on the 3010 and we like to run the 3010 on the drill. Its a good light tractor thats a good match for that grain drill.

We go through and broadcast fertilizer then go over with the roller harrow to work it in. Then plant the beans around 200 per acre. We go a little heavy on the population because our drill only has the single disc instead of the double disc

so what exactly does the soybean planter do? Does it just mix soybean seeds in while tilling the dirt?

Same as any other planter. They have a disk that opens up the ground and the tubes drop the seed in
