Pros register for events in advance months before the event. Unless they are 100% sure they won't get the visa they still register. Usually its a week or two before they are 100% sure.

Pools doesn't necessarily guarantee reaching their. Even the first Evo he won, he almost missed out on pools due to travelling issues
