I like how, at the end, after everything Jean went through: The Phoenix Saga, being controlled by the Inner Circle, the rest of the Dark Phoenix Saga, sacrificing herself and being resurrected, she finally earned some much-needed rest with Scott at her side watching over her. He truly loved her.

I think about this scene and others like it a lot. What does it mean to give up a portion of your life force? It always gets hand waved off, but are their lives shorter now? Is one of their kidneys dead? It always bothered me to reduce a scene to "the power of friendship." A sacrifice isn't a sacrifice if it has no cost. But that's part of the power of this show. Even as a kid it made you think bigger and feel deeper, with both its good qualities and its mistakes.

And, as you have seen my previous comments, some authors believed to do something similar in the comics. Have you ever read "Phoenix: The Untold Story"? It was a story of how the Dark Phoenix saga owed to finish (with Jean losing her powers). There was also a dialogue between the authors of the X-Men and two of them (John Byrne and Jim Saliscrup) had considered the idea that Phoenix was a separated entity who entered Jean's body and a possible end for the saga was to extract her from her host. Unfortunately this project never happened but fortunately something similar has happened in this cartoon. See you soon. Guido.

For fun I'll try to do some math on approximately how many years of life they gave Jean. Since Wolverine is pretty long lived and loves her I'd like to think he gave Jean the most energy out of everyone, probably slightly lessening the amount they gave. I'd say the other six individually gave her ten years of their lives (60) and Wolverine gave like twenty years (80). So if Jean is in her 20s currently she'll live to be a over 100.

True love wants to make that sacrifice for the one you love. Logan understood and like he noted Cyclops for once wasn't thinking rationally. Logan does love Jean, but he also is quite aware that Jean and Scott love each other and it wouldn't be right for one to live while the other perishes, so he was willing to make that sacrifice to make Jean happy.

Phoenix Force has been around for numbers of eons (1 eon is 1 billion years). Lilandra should've realized that Phoenix is immortal. Given that SHE is also the embodiment of existence, can never EVER die as long as there is a least 1 life in the universe, and if there wasn't thus making her vulnerable, Phoenix with her tremendous cosmic powers could repopulate. Lilandra's efforts to kill Phoenix Force were always gonna b in vain.

This might be unpopular but I'm don't think the show did a great job adapting the Dark Phoenix Saga. It's still better than the films, however the show already had Jean sacrificing herself in the end of the Phoenix saga to stop the M'Krann Crystal, so trying to do it doesn't have the same impact. I feel the show should either not have Jean sacrifice herself in the end of the Phoenix Saga, letting her stay with X-men until the Phoenix slowly becomes corrupt (like it happened in the comics) or they should not adapt the Dark Phoenix saga part of it.

Might be difficult to write comic books about characters who are that powerful, even though The Phoenix is a powerful being its still bland and not as interesting as compare to other Cosmic Characters. The Phoenix sole purpose was originally suppose to be just a part Jean's mutant powers reaching it's peak (which would have been interesting) and then it became a cosmic character/being as an excuse to bring Jean Grey back and now it's Marvel's excuse for reserecting other characters, changing the multiverse, rebooting , and creating new characters. Basically, what I like to call Marvel's Escape/Reset Button My guess Marvel doesn't know what else to do with it as compare to their other cosmic beings like The Beyonder

the episodes are out of order, after this they filmed jean's funeral but it should have filmed before any of this. it was crazy back then. she did live on and was there in the final episode.

Think it had to do with the frequent production issues. Some episodes were even held back till the final season. Heck there’s two versions of the episode “No Mutant is an Island”.
