I honestly think Jed is going to save some lives. Seeing such a talented and experienced arborist (not to mention such a quality guy) not make it home to his family has sure got me thinking and I feel I'm not alone. In a way Jed died a hero because someone, somewhere will go home to their wife and kids one day because of Jed. It's nice to see the YT tree community come together to honor this man. RIP, Jed. August, you're a solid guy.

My husband worked with Jed just the past few weeks and was there when it happened, and it was such a freak accident, they absolutely did as much as they could to do the job safely but still things happen. Jed taught my husband so many things in that short time he knew him, and said he was such a humble and amazing man. And yes, as a tree industry wife I do come home to my husband in the shower with chainsaw noises 😅 every day he kisses me goodbye and I tell him I love you, be safe, come home to me. We know the risks and we know the dangers. It's so true that the people in this industry are so passionate. This is a beautiful video August. His service today was so beautiful and he had so many people come out to support him, I've never seen such a turn out for a funeral. He will be so dearly missed and so many people will remember him. I wish I had the honor to meet him, I'm speaking a bit second hand, but you could tell by the outpour of people that he was an incredible person.

I’m a sixth generation farmer. Lost 2 cousins in farm accidents in my lifetime. So tragic. Now I’m retired after 30 years in the factory. Working part time now for a tree service. Only reason I work with my young boss is he’s chill, deliberate, conscientious, knowledgeable and hard working. We watch out for each other. So sad for Jed’s family and circle of friends. The way you watch out for your own crews is the way you will watch out for Jed’s family, deliberate, sacrificial, lovingly. I shaird Treesons video the day it came out with my foreman and crew. It really bothered me. Jed taught me how to square file a chain with his video just a week before he died. Our crew has completely altered our view on safety because of his death. We start every day with a safety brief about the specific job. We set up rescue climb gear along side active climb gear and have plans in place before a cut is even made. Every one carries a tourniquet minimum. We all watch each others backs just that little bit more. Thank you Jed. I love you.

I didn't know Jed but as a sawyer/tradesman here in the PNW thats had a lot of close calls on wildfires and in job sites running saws and doing dangerous things with various machines and tools, his story really spoke to me. Jed sounds like he was an amazing man and he obviously touched a lot of lives and (sadly) leaves behind a legacy of skill and competence. Im so sorry for his family and for those who knew and loved him. RIP Jed. It sounds like Jed truly lived his life and was a quality man and he'll be sadly missed in a world where good men are getting harder and harder to find.

I read a couple interview articles with him from the skateboarding community. He was apparently a big deal back in the 90s. What August said about Jed in the forums is the same from the interviews. He would never boast, even when being pushed toward it. He praised others and minimized himself. He was very real and open about mistakes he made in his young years and owned up to his mistakes. Quality character and a great human being. He will be missed, not because of his expertise with trees. Rather the expertise of his character. Peace to Jed's family.

I'm just someone who watched Jed as a teen because he was BIG in skateboarding and had the opening part in what was the premier company at the time. He was not from the industry but was leading it anyway. Nobody had heard of him and boom everybody was talking about him and his shoe choice (gazzeles). It looks from the comments section he went on to do even bigger and better things, god bless whoever out there.

You can probably see me on most of the videos Jacob did with Jed posting "where's Jed's channel?!?." I'm just a blue collar guy not in the tree world but with a nasty addiction to saws and a need to stay warm in the winter, but Jed's personality got me, just like Augusts'. Hope every gives what they can for the family and memory.

I have seen videos from many pros about Jed. I’m just a landowner that has fallen in love with trees, saws and felling and Jed was an awesome guy that taught me many gems just from his online presence.

I lost my dad to a climbing accident in North Carolina in 2008, I definitely understand how dangerous this trade is. Thanks for giving Jed some honor here in this video August, great stuff!

It definitely reminds me that it can happen to any of us. After finding out my wife and I had a long talk about passing on the sketchy questionable trees in the future. You get comfortable thinking not me until something like this gives you a reality slap.

Thanks for the memorial. A reminder for humility. As you say, we all feel we know the game but the tree can always win and take a husband and father in an instant.

I conversed with Jed in a forum as well and he was a top notch guy. He was quick to admit his own faults and slow to point out the same in others. Our conversations nearly always ended with a word about the love of Jesus.

Jed was An Awesome Guy And Great teacher, I learned a lot from him, from chain sharpening to tree falling techniques 😢

Jed and I never met and never would have, but he meant something to me and I'll be sharing that elsewhere. As this tragic occasion reminds me again to be better about this, I am here to say on your channel in your comments section: August we also will likely never meet but know that since I started watching your videos, you have always had a space in my mind for the things you've shared; your knowledge, your insights, your wisdom, your humor, your mistakes past and in real-time and how you recover from them healthily, your accomplishments, and your growth. Through the content you've shared, I've seen you model ways to do good things and how to treat people right. You show me a way to behave and to live a life that I believe is a worthy example of being a Christian, a husband, a father, an employer, a service provider, a businessman, a teacher, a friend. I barely even climb and don't do it professionally but I am inspired by you. What you share with your videos is compelling to me almost more for the part that is not about climbing. Thanks August and thank you so much Jed. Every day in the winter, I go to cut big fir trees and dead hardwoods on our woodlot. I also have 2 children and a wonderful wife waiting for me at home. Thanks to your teaching these past several years, I have always come home alive. Jed deserved to come back that evening, but dozens of others like me came back because of you. I liked what you said if everyone gave a little it’ll mean a lot. I lost a 16 year old daughter last year and it was a go fund me that helped give me the time to grieve. This will do the same for his wife and kids I pray. Such a tragedy and a eye opener that it can happen to anyone at anytime. May God protect and comfort his family and friends in this time.

Farming attracts the same people as the logging business. I remember my father and I went to a funeral of a farmer crushed by a tractor. We left the church and just got back to work, there is nothing you can do. I agree that Jed died doing what he loved. It’s a tragedy no matter how you look at it and we all just hope his family can cope with his loss.

I am blessed to have met Jed a couple of years ago when he was on the crew that cut down a neighbor's tree (while Jacob was still at Eastside and filming for them) - I took an entire day off so I could be there to watch them work (from a safe distance and not in their way). My grandfather worked his entire life in the timber industry and our family still owns the land where I was with him as a child, while he felled 150' tall fir trees and boy do I still remember some close calls (even though he had been doing that work for over 40 years). It's very dangerous work even on the best day. My thoughts and prayers to his family, and let us all do what we can to help them, be that in prayer, in donations, or in any other way as we are able to.

I think this is a good time to follow Jacob's lead and say ... I Love you August.... for who you are and ALL you do... You're a great man ❤❤❤ We'll all Very much miss you Jed ❤❤❤

It's been years since I hung up the spurs, but still one of those guys who is watching the videos after work. I like watching the guys who know what's going on, You, Jacob, Buckin, Gordie, Reon...and others. Every time you watch a video and Jed is in the vid you know you are going to learn something, I always did for sure. This weekend I used a lesson learned from Jed to drop a birch tree that was hanging over my mill shed, my buddy said ill hook it with the boom truck...I said we gona do Jed proud and use his sniped notch and watch that one roll. It landed exactly how I wanted...Thank you Jed Walters.

im a hermit that have been watching this groups tree videos for the past years its helped me a lot as i cut about 30 trees a week solo on my property to cleanup a forest we bought. and i recently took a break as it got too dangerous and i watched these videos in between working on my homestead. just found out about Jebs death this week as i had to take a break im waiting on a new helmet as some limbs fell and almost got me .A limb fell and landed like a spear three feet away and about a foot in the dirt. so today i get my new helmet as my inner voice reminded me about how much i paid for my hard hat and how i should buy the best . i just found out about jebs death Jeb showed me something more. that you can still be happy in this world. and have good friends that help each other without ill intent. thats something i lost in life. and something i thought was an illusion until i saw how good of a person Jeb was and the reflection of that quality in the friends around him. i never met the guy in person but my soul still feels his loss. even though he is not here now his spirit still is and his videos will continue to help the world.

Definitely the nicest guy and most humble man I’d ever met. It was a privilege to be there when he started in the industry. I was his Forman for a couple years then he left back east. I hadn’t heard anything about him in years. Definitely not what I wanted to hear. He will be missed by a lot of people and definitely his family. 😢 be safe out the to all tree people. We’re definitely in a dangerous line of work.

I found Jed inspirational to watch. Gifted and humble along with it. Great fun to watch and I´m sure he was also great fun to be around. It was just an unlucky incident and at least it was split second quick. He died doing the job that he so obviously loved. None of that will make it easy for his family though, and I truly hope they are OK.

I'm a rigger on towers - i watched arb stuff for ages because they have the smartest solutions and most passion of any "sub-group" of this sort of stuff. Didn't watch for ages then saw this, a year or so late. I didn't see the man many times but i knew straight away he was a deep and genuinely good man and extremely humble, especially given what was clearly mastery of a profession. The trade that seems to attract the brightest and most loving ppl - who are also tough men. The man never flinched but he ALWAYS had a way of being the man but givimg props to those around him so they felt they were the man. What a tragic loss to the world to no longer have that great man here. With God now and God is always with us. ❤

Im not a tree cutter but this happens in my line of work sometimes. It realy puts you feet on the ground when somebody you admire and respect in your trade has something like this happen. Those people we consider to be the best of the best and they set the bar higher than we think we could ever reach. They're few and far between. His living influence on the tree community was significant, equaly in his passing. This is a major loss for the tree cutter community. My condolences to all.

The thing that always draws me to your fantastic videos is your openness and deep feelings like Jed. We are not scientists but love our trade and the way we conquer each job and pass those skills on to others. It is more than just words but the meaning behind them.

Nobody is immortal, the first breath we take is a prelude to the last. Jed lived he really lived, and his legacy will sound out for all the treeple to recognize what he has left behind. You are a such a good human August. It’s such a tragedy for his family. Like someone stated, we in the flesh are not immortal to anything. Watching Jed captured through Jacob’s lens showed how knowledgeable and humble of a person he was. Just like you, Damian, and the rest of your crew, we as the viewers or followers build a bond throughout the videos that you create. Just like Jed left a mark, you are too. I enjoy watching you guys work because the way you present yourself to the audience, your crew, the client you work for, and everyone else in between makes us feel like we are there. Sometimes I wish I was closer to you guys just to hang out and learn something new. August, you sir are the real deal, you are not fake, you tell it like it is, you are a motivator to crew, and endorser to Monkey Beaver, and staple to the tree industry. This is the first video that I've seen of yours, and I wholeheartedly respect and thank you for the words you brought out in it. It is never easy, and for some, knowing what to say in situations like this is very, very difficult. I only knew Jed through a few videos that he was in and could tell he was on heck of a good dude! I, too, wish the best and pray that God gives everyone he touched and especially his family, the strength to get through this dire time and to always remember him. To quote my mother.... "Even though I am no longer with you physically, nobody is ever truly gone until they are forgotten.... Never Forget!!"
