Hey, tnx Ron. Loving the jeep. So many mods to come. I am trying to get a jack from a co. called "safe jack". Need a way to replace a tire out in the field.

If you are going to be using the radio inside the Jeep, you can run the coax through the door at the same spot the third brake light and backup camera wiring goes through.

Yeah, I am kinda not a fan of using a radio in the jeep... seems to much HT like to me. I want to see the outdoors and have an easy outside setup.

Did you need to do some tuning of the Hamstick? Did you find it necessary to cut the whip to get the SWR that low? Thanks!

Yes, I did take the hamstick whip up and down a bit, but all in all, about 1.5 was the best I could do. I varied wildly depending on how I held it and moved the feed line.

Would it be worth earthing the antenna to the tailgate and then earthing the tailgate to the main vehicle? Using those braided flat earthing straps? I like your setup, need to do the same to my Nissan Navara pickup! 73 DE 2E0HIA

Hey Stew, you are definitely right. I just don't want to have to deal with it at the moment, running some braid down and finding a good spot with no paint.

@@hamradiocq not enough hours in the day ha ha, know the feeling! Might turn your Jeep into a nice big radial though when you get the spare time to do it! Might be handy if you have to run the engine whilst parked up and on the radio. You could also run one of those dangling earths to ground that all cars use to have back in the day... don't seem to see them these days! I doubt that modern cars have better shielding for RF etc... Anyway I always enjoy your vids so keep up the good work! At least you have fuel unlike us Brits ha ha!

2 best days with a Jeep, the day you buy it and the day you sell it. (j)ust (e)mpty (e)very (p)ocket. I will never own a jeep again, too under powered. Poured 30k into my jeep new bumpers, lift, wheels, tires, 3:5 gears, winch, lights. Looked awesome drove like a haywagon, hard pass, awesome off-road but not a daily driver.
