our 4.5 inch lift was a nightmare lol i spent 3 months rebuilding the rear frame because noting was stable. i also had to rebuild all my leaf spring mounts as the bolts were so seized. not even wilding a nutt on helped. needless to say after all this bullish the starter failed lolol. our control arms were very difficult to get out. as for the rear shocks we ended up welding bar pin eliminator brackets instead of removing the broken bolts. glad you were able to spend time with the little ones. 6 years later and i bet they remember workin on the ole jeep with dad

I did the same thing for those rear shocks all my bolts broke, and picked up an air hammer at harbor freight and used the wire trick for the new bolts was so glad I found that, I had a buddy who said you had to cut panels in the floor to access them, always pays to check the forums haha. Great video.

Can you explain the wire trick, my lift kit is showing up in a week and worried about these bolts.
@dillyxc339
@dillyxc339 3 жыл бұрын
@@562rubio the nuts are welded to the unibody so if the snap you have to knock them out, trust me get the air hammer, once you do you can wrap the threads of the new bolts you're using and snake the bolt into the hole, the threads will come out of the holes now instead of going up into the welded nuts, there is access through the unibody to snake the bolts so you don't have to cut your floor, once you get the wire to come out of the hole you just pull and the bolt will come through

Awesome video!! I’m getting ready to install the IRO 3” Long Arm Kit and their OTK 5/8 upgraded steering kit on my wife’s 2-door. My biggest worry is the upper bolts on the rear shocks as well. I’m soaking the bolts multiple times, weeks in advance, to hopefully not have them break. I’m curious; did you just spray the head of the bolts, or did you spray the nuts through the triangle area? I got the bar pin eliminators so I hopefully don’t ever have to deal with them again.

I have a 2001 xj got a Rubicon Express 3 1/2” lift kit, track bar adjustable with drop kit bar bracket, upper adjustable control arms solid non adjustable lowers control arms, 3 1/2” - 4” shocks same front sway bars as you have, I do see you placed in a transfer case drop kit. Mine has a stud and a bolt the stud is short so I’m at No drop transfer case . The issue is pinion angle to caster angle. How did you get your pinion to caster angle corrected. I got new 31 x 10.50 x 15” cooper tires. Front end alignment shop can only get me 1.750 degree caster so it feels like my front tires are on ice. The way I have seen most cherokee guys do is cut the large C’s set angles and weld the C’s back on. A lot of work for my 69 yr old body. So how did you set the correct pinion to caster angle ? Fast reply is very helpful.

Did you experience any driveline issues after your install? Any vibrations when letting your foot off the gas pedal at highway speeds? I did the Rubicon Express 3.5" lift and I couldn't even roll my jeep around because the U-joints were angled so much it wouldn't turn. I did the 1" transfer case drop and it seemed to help but I still get the "out of phase" roar when driving at highway speeds. Looks like a SYE project is in store for me.
