Jeep Double Din Forward and Rear Camera Install

This video shows mounting and wiring of Double Din Stereo operated forward and rear cameras on a 2006 Jeep Wrangler.
Note1: the hole I drilled by the hinge is 1/4" - too small for the RCA connector to fit through so I clipped the wire and reconnected it after I passed the wires through the hole. I probably could have drilled a big enough hole for the connectors to fit through and still be hidden by the trim, but I just used the smaller hole.
Note2: I bought two backup cameras. I really needed one backup and one front camera because a backup camera reverses the image to be the same as looking in a mirror. A front camera does not reverse the image. I will have to replace my front camera with one made for the front.

Thanks. I've been super happy with mine. I even listen to sirusxm through my phone on apple car play. Back up camera is nice to have too

You will be glad you did. I have been really happy with mine. The backup camera is a game changer. And of course having maps is great on trips. We even listen to SiriusXM through car play.

i use a rearwiew mirror camera for the same result..easy to install by clips and it is done..front and rear..but good tips from you..from France

I need one of those front mounts for sure. Great video, I am in the process of installing backup cameras and wanted to see how others had ran the wires. Also instead of powering my camera to only turn on when in reverse I bypassed that by hooking the convenience wire (on the backup camera rca wire red) to the power (red) on the harness so it would always have power in case I wanted to flip it on while not in reverse. But now I have to splice into my backup light wire so that it will pop up when I do actually put it in reverse. Also I hooked the parking brake safety wire into the ground wire on the harness so that I could access any of the features any time, my passenger may want to watch something on the road :)

Great idea. That will be nice if you rear view is blocked by cargo or a big spare tire. Some new cars have that feature.

How do you trigger the front camera exactly? I want to go off roading and go bam, easy press a button and it just pops up!

You start the front camera from the main screen. It is one of the icons you select so it is pretty quick and easy like you want.

So...does your front camera work without the parking brake on?

Yes. The parking brake lock out is only for video viewing, but even then you can disable it in the menu. Front camera is designed to work while your are driving.
