Greetings from Kangaroo Island, Australia.🦘 Last week I took my 4.0L WJ in for a transmission service. She's still under 200,000 kilometres, so she hasn't had a hard life. Got her home after the service, and overnight she's leaking transmission oil like a sieve. 😫 This morning she's back in the workshop! Watching your videos is a great insight into what is actually involved in servicing/repairing the trusty WJ's.

definately not a fan of the pre cat exhaust on the 2000-2006 4.0. i think that is what creates even more uneccessary heat in the engine compartment. his rough country hot air intake probably isnt helping, id just put the stock intake\air filter setup back on it. Nice work buddy, thats a really nice clean install for sure.

Jeep XJ and WJ in my driveway cause me to take special note of Dan's findings and repair. And it's hard to explain why I like my XJ. And it has some kooky little problems but not such as melted injector wiring (yet). *Failed and worn key switch. Intermittent passenger window control fail (may be driver door wiring boot). Difficult trans line connection at radiator. Came with jeep vs deer right front grille and bumper impact damage w. crushed AC fittings front.. Blown head gasket. *required engine swap. worn torque converter output shaft leak. (caused vexing trans oil leak to driveway) Weak drivers side window regulator. What's to like?. Well... The slightly more compact body with a remarkable turn radius, the solid ride of the Dana 30 front axel. Great visibility and the full 4x4 engagement. 4 low as handles deep snow and where ice, mud cause difficult driving. Note. I made a small shield to protect the pass side firewall electronics from water. Water entry as to this area may have caused hard fault to injectors?. In the end, as with the repairs shown to Project Dan, I don't mind the service required to keep my XJ at peak performance. Storms may come. Rocks, potholes, ice and mud are real. M.

Great job Dan O I can see hes happy with the turnout . My question is did you have a good scan tool hooked up at any point?? The wiring can a headache forsure but I notice he has some accessories hooked up to the battery. Those can short things out too and back feed to the new pcm so make sure everything is grounded and has fuses. The only thing missing in this build is some chrome engine goodies 😂 It looks like he'll have a great running jeep for years to come .

cylinder 5 I've swapped 3 with the same exact damage same cylinder. I drove mine 20 miles with a hole in the block.

Just FYI if you are using Rotella 10W30 diesel oil it has 1400 PPM of zinc you do not need to add additional zinc too much zinc can cause problems on its own

Yikes, sounds like #6 was not get enough fuel, that meant lean burn with excessive heat and pow, it broke.

Hey man love your videos! Helped me with quite a few issues I’ve had with my Wj. However, I’m currently pulling the motor on my wj jeep. I’m gonna reuse my motor hopefully and build it back to a 4.6 stroker. It’s been so hard to find videos of people pulling the 4.0 out of a wj. I haven’t found one yet. When you removed the motor from this wj did you have to get all the refrigerant out of the a/c system? I really don’t wanna have to unhook it all and recharge when I’m done. Is there a way around this? Any help or advice would be really appreciated. Was kinda hoping I could just put it out of the way like on the XJs.

at 3:50 when you had the video of the engine running in the old WJ there is a ticking sound, almost like a diesel sound, my jeep makes that noise, what do you think caused that?

I've got a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. There other day I went to check the transmission fluid and it was ok, but now the dipstick won't go all the way back down like it's supposed to. What am I doing wrong.?

Love the video. I got a 2001 WJ engine is making noise. Wish I had someone in my area to swap an engine that loves jeeps. Any idea what that would cost? Keep up the great work.
