In this video we show you what we did to lift this Grand Cherokee and why! We installed a Rough Country 2.5" Suspension lift, as well as 18x8 KMC XD Grenade wheels & 33" Nitto Terra Grapplers!

Thanks mount Zion off-roading, did not know that! I added 2 extra leafs on my welding truck then had to do lift the front, didn’t go longer with the shocks as they were stretched right out 04 f350 ride was rough, just looking for a little road clearance without losing the nice ride I get on my 2011 Jeep Cherokee 👍

Adding leafs or even lift blocks on leaf springs is a different dynamic. Spacers on top of struts or coil springs is a very common lift and generally under 3" is very safe, economical and does not change the ride! The only real down side to the spacer system is that it does not increase suspension travel, only tire clearance!

0:02 Yes, yes it is. And I need mine back. Was embarking on my own lift ambitions when we hit trouble. Long story short, it got towed it to the experts place after rust wouldn't let us get far 😭 Won't lie, mine is more of a daily fun mobile though. Many offroad spots in out track that require 4x4 or bust. And it goes zoooom too 👀

Did you need to put spacers to clear the strut in the front?

Did you have to do any additional modifying to the car to make the tires not rub (other than adding the lift)? Like pinch-weld cutting, or fender cutting. Thanks!

Did u hav to modify the front wheel well for turning the wheel left and right
@sampankow18203 жыл бұрын
Probably a little late reply but yes I had to. There are pinch welds on the cabin side of the wheel well that you have to bench backwards in order to prevent rubbing. I cut horizontal grooves into mine with an angle grinder and then used a rubber mallet to bend them back. Painted over with a sealer paint and no rubbing.

With the kit and 33" tires how much Lift did it have in the end?

You get about 3" in the front and a little less than 3 in the rear. It basically levels out the jeep. I did the rough country 2.5" spacer lift on mine.

NOT digging the positive offsets. Beautiful WK2, but i have 18x10s with minus 24 offsett wrapped in 33 12.50s.

Hey buddy did you have to modify the wheel well at all? I just put my 33 in and im rubbing the front bumper a little and the pinch weld when i turn. Did you have to trim anything? People say they run 33s with the 2.5 lift but no when says how to get rid of the rubbing
@carlosmolfino224 жыл бұрын
Did they fit without rubbing on tight turns?

Carlos Molfino yes sir! No issues!

I just put my 33 on and they rub the front bumper when I turn and the pinch weld. Anyway to get that to stop? I have aftwr market 18s they stick out about 2 inches. Do you think its the offset that is making it rub?
@sampankow18203 жыл бұрын
@@benjaminward7504 You have to bend those pinch welds back somehow. I made horizontal cuts in mine and then used a rubber mallet to bend the sections back

@@MountZionOffroad 265/50R20 107 T Rims:20x8.0 According to rough country for their lift kit (not the one with the spacers) they said if i use standard wheels that trimming is required, and their recommended wheel size that does not need trimming is 33x11.50R20 20x8.55x5.0+25, but i had a hard time understanding that to convert to buy regular tires. Thanks for your help
@MountZionOffroad Жыл бұрын
Your current tire is about 30.5" by 10.5" depending on what brand you look at. You definitely need a lift to fit 33x11.5, if you're trying to bump up in tire size without lifting I wouldn't recommend going much larger, something like a 275/55R20, which is approximately 32x11 would probably be the max, though even that may cause some rubbing. If you're looking to get into a more aggressive tire on your factory 20" wheel unfortunately there really aren't many options in your factory size. Looking at a Falken AT Trail in a 265/50 shows a 30.6" diameter with a section width (widest part of the tire) at 11.1". If we look at a 275/55 Falken Wildpeak AT3W, it shows an overall diameter of 31.9 and a section width of 11.1. I believe the section width would be your bigger concern/variable so a tire with a similar section width to what you already have, should clear your steering and suspension components. From there you can look at it to determine whether an additional 0.65" above, in front and behind the tire would clear while driving.

@@MountZionOffroad thank you so much, yes i want to get the 3 inch lift. So what size you think is best to max out size withought rubbing with the lift kit?

$160 for this lift plus wheels and tires. That part is where the money CAN gan up there. For this set up that's about $2000 SO ROUGHLY $2100 or so total. Not to mention hours if you take it to a shop or pay a friend to do it lol

So basically just a spacer lift? Must ride like shit
@MountZionOffroad2 жыл бұрын
Spacer kits generally don't change the ride much. This one adding a little more preload on the spring does tighten up the front a little, but not a bad thing when you're adding height to a heavy vehicle. Thanks for watching and we appreciate your comments!

Bro, For realz, spend more money on Rogaine vs worthless suspension lift and way to bigga tire for already powerless Cherokee with speed sensing and Quadra trac that’s sure to give you problems such as burning clutch pacs etc. This is not a 1 ton truck where you would have already durable axles, gear sets, stronger locker etc. Foolish Phil at 6months I’d like to see honest repair spread as well as mileage count

GC's are never going to be as capable as the rigs you're comparing to. That's facts. But doing a modification like this won't affect too much besides MPG and possibly alignment. I've had my 2.5" lift for 2 years and no problems.

What happened to real Cherokee lifts? These new Jeeps suck. There all pavement princess. Guess no one wants to actually off-road their $30,000 Jeep.
