As a retired AF veteran I’m very much aware of the JEEP story. Thank you for spreading the word. I also noticed your license plate, a very heartfelt THANK YOU FOR YOUR MILITARY SERVICE and your families too. Because they serve right along side you. When I was deployed in 2002 I went to the BX/PX and bought a Peterson’s Offroad magazine and they had a story about the release of the first ever JEEP Rubicon. I was already a JEEP fan but I returned home from that deployment and asked the misses, she said NO because there wasn’t space for 3 car seats. Fast forward 20 years and all three children raised and out of the house I finally purchased my first JEEP JT WILLYS Edition with the EcoDiesel. I love it and I recently just purchased an AEV RT 2.5in lift for it and AEV Salta XR wheels and 34 inch tires. The JT is my daily driver so I have to keep the tire size reasonable. I’m taking the modifications slow and steady. Eventually I’ll be getting the Green Diesel Engineering tune for it once I hit 36K miles to bump up the performance and fuel economy. Otherwise great video my man, be well and Godspeed! Cheers from North Pole, Alaska! 🎅🏻❄️☃️🎄🇺🇸

First, thank you for your service. It was a wild ride for those 20+ years going back and forth. I’ve had a lot experiences overseas, and would say I learned a lot about getting stuck and vehicle recovery over there. It’s great that you got a Jeep that you enjoy, and sounds like you have a good plan for future upgrades.

Fun fact: The Willy's Jeep the army used was designed to be taken apart and reassembled by two or three people in less than 30 minutes. They were basically designed to be repairable in the field with just a few spare parts instead of getting a brand new Jeep. I think there's even a video on KZfaq where like 6 guys take one apart and put it back together in 4 minutes.

I’d love to see that. I wonder if any of them ever fell apart from improper assembly mid ride.

I had a '79 CJ-7 before Daisy Duke got hers. The only thing AMC made was the rear axle and the body tub. The transfer case, Borg-Warner. 4-speed transmission, GM. 304 c.i.d. engine, International Harvester. Carb and Ignition system, Ford.(you could read the stampings thru the AMC decals) Brake parts, Chryco. The guy at the glass shop said it looked like American Motors had designed the windshield frame to rust out. Brake light wiring was routed in and out of the wheelwheel(totally stoopid). Great off-roader, but they were all rustbuckets.

That’s a cool experience. Do you still have a jeep now? Would you restore the CJ-7 if you still had it?

Wasn't aware that I am a 'Jeeper', thanks for that. My first Jeep was a 1990 soft top, the last model to come out of the Willys factory. It was a manual and I really loved driving it, the whole top down experience is something else. Now I have a 2010 automatic Unlimited, black, just like the one in the video. I can still have a top off experience either over the cab or the whole thing, but honestly would never bother taking the whole roof off, what a pain. I do have a whinge though, in both vehicles I have had to replace the radiator, Jeep have NOT perfected the meld of plastic topped radiators with metal core, they eventually leak. I'm in Australia, so genuine parts are expensive, but I love it. I get so many comments from other people who love it too, she has a 'chrome pack', side steps etc, so lots of shiny bits to admire. I would like better fuel economy, but what the heck.

Interesting history on the 1990 model. So, does your Jeep have the steering wheel on the right hand side to be Australia compliant?

I love love my Trubel - 2002 Jeep Wrangler Sport. It's easy to work on and less expensive to get it fixed. I love when someone gets into my Jeep and they are trying to figure out how to get the window roll down. It has manual windows.

Ha! My kids watched Home Alone one day and asked “What’s Marv doing with his arm?” I explained to them that back in the day people had to crank their windows up and down. Lol.

@OffGridAdventure 😆 once I dipped a Peep into a jar of frosting. That was about 8 years ago. Now I avoid added sugars like the plague because of what it does to my body 😅

I always wanted one… until I drove one. Been in the auto industry for almost 10 years now. All the mechanics say stay away from all jeeps. High depreciation too. Notorious for serious problems as you approach 100k miles. Because the brand has its own cult following, new they are way overpriced. They are also one of the most unsafe vehicles one can drive. All that said, a tricked out Wrangler, in my opinion, is one of the best looking vehicles on the market. Not the inside (super cheap looks, feel, and features given their price) but on the outside. Over the decades Jeep has worked to modernize and civilize what remain an off road car designed to rock climb, conquer sand dunes and GO SLOW off road. No one needs a Wrangler for the speed bumps at the mall. It is not a great car to drive or live with if you are just doing city or suburban life.

Love my jeep!!! Love the jeep community!!! I named my jeep Messenger…. Had my first duck given to me after owning it for ten years, so I to started ducking jeeps. But I duck every Jeep with a verse from the Bible, hoping to build a fellowship group of Christian keepers that like to enjoy the outdoors.🙏

I understand this perspective completely. I had a GMC Canyon several years ago, and it is a much better pickup truck than the gladiator.
