Jeep Wrangler Tj - 4+1” Body Lift Install For High Clearance Mods

Keeping the stock Tj look has always been my goal for this build and it’s time to get a bit more serious with the modifications needed to properly run larger tires. In this video the red tj gets a 1” body lift. Adding no more than 1.25” will allow us to do a tummy and gas tank tuck for higher clearances when taking on obstacles, without sacrificing center of gravity and changing driveshaft angles. I don’t advocate anymore than 1.25” for these mods, but it is possible have a combination of 3” lift and 2” or 4”+2” body lift to get the 5” or 6” needed to properly clear larger tires. Another strategy other than lowering the radiator is to lift the engine mounts 1” to accommodate the body lift, but this route changes driveshaft angles, but may raise you exhaust enough to clear a tummy tuck mod. These other body lifts are good options based on your needs, but is a bit more work involved, that’s not shown in this video. Thanks for watching. 🍻

@@ATEMOFFROAD That said, I love the nature up here, and having 4 seasons is cool (except this past winter was a lot of flooding and only a few good 12”+ snowstorms). And it makes those warm summer days in the forest or on the beach feel much more special when they happen

Dustin, love seeing you working with your son! I watched your first BL video when you put it out. I'm also planning a 4" lift along with the 1" BL to get those 35's my '97, too! Question: Did you do or are you planning to do a 1" motor mount lift as well? Keep up the good work!

Awesome and thank you 🙏 At the moment I don’t see a need for the motor mount lift. When I get the barns4x4 high clearance belly skid that may change depending on how it mounts and what’s in the way. Worst case scenario I will have to use a motor mount lift and remove radiator and trans linkage drop. Best case scenario it bolts right up or maybe a slightly exhaust modification.

My lift did come with one. But I’m not using it. You take that out when you install an SYE kit.

I agree, However the advantages are far more greater for high clearance mods that I plan on doing. These mods require a minimum of 1” body lift clearance for the belly and fuel tank skid. The Barns4x54 skids are much stronger in material. Nope. Body lifts are only frowned upon by dummies who take them at face value, not realizing how necessary they are for tummy tucks and up travel gains. EXCESSIVE body lifts are frowned upon not subtle 1".

@@speedfreak8200and any lift and even a roof rack raisers your center of gravity. Thats the nature of 4wd modification
