The chording is the most difficult and important part in any song as it's what gives the melody , the shredder might get the recognition from the crowd but it's the Rythem section who gets the respect from the band . Playing the full chords you gotta be perfect as one fuck up everyone will notice shredding you can fuck up as many times as you want cause there is always someone to cover your ass , Thats why Page was playing chords and happy doing so .

There's no convincing the ignorants of their ignorance. I am in complete agreement with you, Mr. J. Page, Mr. E. Clapton, and millions of others. The man is on another planet when he's in stride. That said, he is also somewhat of an acquired taste......you have to have listened to a untold hours on end of listening to guitar players of all genres to really appreciate what J Beck is offering. With that, I'll completely dismiss the claims made by others that 'their' player is better than Beck

I like Jeff and there is no doubt he is the master. That all said his actual songs are not so great. Because we Ended as Lovers is a classic. I guess as I have grown older I tend to enjoy music that is less technical and more about feel and tone. Jeff falls more into the shredder category. When I was young I loved that style of play and now not so much. He is truly gifted and has kept it going for decades and that is incredible.

"Truth" was the first Jeff Beck album I heard aside from his work with the yardbirds, and it still gets me everytime. Rod Stewart's voice fit perfectly for the heavy blues influenced album, which surprised me because I knew him as the guy who sang "if you want my body and you think I'm sexy.. blah blah". Not my cup of tea, but he kills it on "Truth" and as far as Jeff, I don't think I ever heard him play a note that didn't come out exactly as he intended it to. And I was amazed at that version of the Indian song "Nadia" he did later on in his career. He did those whirling swirling Indian vocals with the guitar and it sounded beautiful.

Rick Hibdon - As a 15 year old I was also lucky enough to Jeff Beck with the Jan Hammer Group in Feb 1977 at the Hordern Pavilion here in Sydney , Australia. As you know Jeff Beck was in his full on Jazz rock period at that stage and I didn't appreciate the performance at the time , as the 15 year old me was only interested in his Yardbirds/1960s solo work with Rod Stewart, I'm still glad I saw the show in 77 and very glad Beck recorded a live LP with Jan Hammer from that tour as it wasn't till 10/11 years later I fully appreciated his 1975-1980 Jazz rock phase, I've subsequently seen him twice over over the last 15 years here in Sydney at the Enmore theatre down the road from my place , both times with Aussie bassist Tal Wikenfield and Narada Michael Walden on drums - fantastic shows and I got Jeff's autograph . 🎸👍😎
