Gosh. That last minute of the interview. Combine the collective loss that everyone around the planet feels for losing Jeff Buckley and you don't even come close to what a mother must feel for losing a son. But Mary has to bear both. What an amazing woman. Thanks Mary.

What Mary had to say about why she thinks people connect with Jeffs music (at 7:17) to me, was incredibly profound & so true... It actually brought tears to my eyes (& Im always the one rolling my eyes at people who "cry" watching videos) Jeffs music does awaken something within you & depending on the song (& my mood) can evoke feelings of inspiration, melancholy or even make me feel like can kick the worlds ass lol! But I love how she described it, thank you Mary x

Yes! And I would say there was a star machine back in the late 60s and Tim Buckley rejected it. Look at his later work, there was no way that would have appealed to the masses.

I know people say Jeff looked like Tim and sure, of course, but wow, look at her eyes. You can see Jeff staring out of them. Her mannerisms - They remind me of Jeff as much as his actions reminded me of Tim. The teeth too. Very Jeff. That little head tilt she does to the right when saying 'pontificating'. Jeff. Wow. I know, I know, that's genetics, imitation is how children learn, but it's just so clear. The dorky laugh too. JEFF! xD

Hi, Thank you for sharing such information about that personal side of Jeff when he was young. And sadly, being only 33 years of age now, I was a child In the mid nineties when Jeff Started having a following and people became aware of His music… funny thing is I only started to know who Jeff Buckley was about one month ago when I wanted to listen to the song Hallelujah and I came across The most popular cover Virgin ever of it, With which I fell in love. I was shocked and upset to know the artist had died at such a young age and 1997. Then I researched more and fell in love with all his concerts that are recorded which I can view on KZfaq, and loved his interviews, and very much Appreciate the soul that he was, what a loss... That is cool of you to Not mind sharing tidbits about Jeff around the time you knew him. Was just curious of what he thought about moving around as a young kid, F he ever shared his thoughts with you? And the last time you saw him You said it was the early nineties? I know You miss him, and that was special that you shared so much time Together in your younger days. Thank you for reading my message and I can give you my personal email address if you ever wanted or preferred to respond On another forum. Lastly I know this post of yours was from 2 years ago but I am just coming across it now haha . Thank you again for reading!

I prefer to remain sceptical about these sorts of films. I'm another lover of jeff buckley's music, and I wouldn't like to see some half-rate film about someone who I adored and still do adore. if it has the same quality as say, "walk the line", which had very good performances, and a very involving story, then I will be happy. this film has to be top notch or nothing at all.
@andpyramids12 жыл бұрын
@tinypaperboat Really?? Because from what I've read, Micheal Tighe has stood up for Mary and what she has had to go through and has even shed light on some of the words Jeff had said about his upbringing. To paraphrase, Jeff was a young man just coming to terms with his own individuality, shaking off the shackles of his upbringing, and like any young person (especially one with a rocky past), felt he had to distance themselves from that situation.
@andpyramids12 жыл бұрын
@andpyramids Furthermore, don't forget that Michael, Mick, and Matt were all very dear friends of Jeff's and have worked numerous times with Mary to bring some amazing pieces of Jeff's work to the light of day. Sure, this isn't the way Jeff would have wanted it, but what choice do we have?? He was taken from us MUCH too soon, and we have no choice but to fill that void with the magnificent live works he left behind, which those 4 have painstakingly dug through for us to enjoy. We are blessed!!

I feel like everyone is so intrusive hearing her talk about this again. How many times does she have to discuss her past with strangers? It's so heartbreaking she lost her son and lost her child. We know, through stories from his friends, that his mother created an unstable environment for Jeff - like being raised by a true artist... and from this interview I see how very lucky he was to have such an intelligent, deep-thinking Pisces like Mary Guibert in his spirit-kissed life. Perhaps his music would not dig so deep into our souls had he not been uprooted constantly and forced to find his own comfort within his little child-heart. This Orpheus continued the essence of the Buckley tenors- probably ancient Irish lore going on there- how else could his Shakespearean type death have been foretold in the prophetic lyrics of every song he ever wrote... Jeff is Art.

The obvious choice to the large majority of Buckley fans to play Jeff is James Franco. Not only do they look alike but I think that Franco has the spark that Jeff had. Why can't they do this the right way? Brad Pitt was working really hard to make this happen but since his production company was partly owned by Jennifer (also a huge JB fan) it all just kind of stopped. Brad and Jennifer need to MAKE THIS HAPPEN and get Franco however you can. I"m getting impatient.
