Thanks for checking out this video! This one took a really long time to make, about two weeks!... can't believe it's just a bit under 6 minutes xD I'm not too sure how many of you actually care about my progress, but I'd encourage you to study your clips in the same way, so that you improve as efficiently as you can! The three points that I identified will also serve as the start point for the up and coming Lin Dan analysis videos and Drills videos, so I'm super excited about that!
Please leave any questions or comments below :)
Check out my email list too! I'll be posting updates to videos and writing emails on random badminton topics. You might even get early access and be the first to watch the new video!

Love your videos bro! You make really clear and honest analyses of your own techniques that your viewers can incorporate into their games! Keep up the good work! :)

I'm mostly working on my smash power, jumping smash timing, and overhead backhand return. I also need to train my footwork and pace on court. Still meed to improve a lot of things. Thanks for making the video and sharing your badminton progress. Love to watch it 😄

Really cool to see those videos and i aprreciate the effort :) Since i'm kinda in the beginner stage, I'm still really struggling with my backhand, so mostly covering it with overheads, which i'm working on mostly i guess. Other than that, i think since footwork especially for those backcourt shots is really important, i'm trying to improve that too. I really like your style of videos, its really a skill to break down a complex task like badminton into simpler movements and working on them one at a time. These videos encourage me to do the same and i will follow your progress/channel as long as i'm continuing trying to improve in badminton!

a tip for your backhand, think about what you do for a smash do exactly the same but opposite direction in other terms => create energy, elbow high, hit with stretched arm at highest point possible (gives the steepness) , wirst gives direction

Something that helped me stay on my toes was adding in some skip rope to my my workouts :). You could also add this to your warm-up or when you want to stretch.

Great progression Jeffrey, I subscribed to your channel last month, and has watched all of your videos lol. But I think for us amateur players who looking to improve, you should analyse Lin Dan's playing style after 2013, which is more well rounded and focus on court coverage, as opposed to his earlier style which is offensive and rely more on his superhuman speed
@BadmintonwithJeffrey
@BadmintonwithJeffrey 5 жыл бұрын
Haha that’s a good point! I think it’s fine to analyze the basics though, I definitely won’t try to copy his crazy footwork and speed haha, just the simple ones :)

Ayyy long time since i've seen one of your vids. Nice to see how much more aggressive you are now. Maybe try practicing your crosscourt backhand drop as well? For the backhand, the straight & cross drop, and the straight clear are all you really need to feel safe when pressured.
@BadmintonwithJeffrey
@BadmintonwithJeffrey 5 жыл бұрын
yeah! A cross court backhand drop would definitely add even more options. As you said, backhand straight clear, straight drop, and cross court drop are enough options to get out of a pressured situation

In the clip where you said your backhand clear doesn't go all the way, it's because you are slicing it.

Great video, very helpful. Maybe you can analyse LD in his form from around 2010-2012 ish? I felt like he had more flow during that time period.

I’ve been analyzing his form from a video back in 2007, but yeah! I personally liked his form and footwork the best during 2007-2011. That’s just me though :)

To force me to stay on my toes more, my coach insisted that I walk around in my daily life on my toes. Like walking to the bus, teaching class, etc. It actually helped. :P

I am trying to improve on 2 of the same things as you are as well ie staying on my toes to improve footwork and speed and my backhand shots what is different is I am also working on placement rather than power by utilizing more forehand slice and backhand reverse slice shots

When you do the voice-over, the background music still sounds a bit too loud. Good update on what’s happening with you though.

Hey if you want consistent backhands with better pace you’ll need to follow through your swing with a full range of motion. I’ve noticed in your clips your backhand are stopped mid-way as you execute the shot. Also don’t forget the use of your hips to generate better force without feeling too tired. Best of luck!
@alfthealien
@alfthealien 5 жыл бұрын
Was just about to say the same thing! A little faster preparation will give you time for more torso rotation that generates more power and more complete swing for your backhand.

@lasmirandadennsivillia5048

- Hit the shuttle as early(high) as possible - a rather loose grip until you hit the shuttle, try to put some extra power on it exactly when you hit the shuttle - do some pronation without other arm swing and without racket - try to get behind the shuttle - try to hold your racket more and more from pan-handle to V-Grip - open up your chest/press your shoulder blades together More advanced: - use your body, not only your arm. Explosively rotate your body - Make sure to push yourself away immediately after you hit the shuttle for fluent movement One step at a time! ^^

I think you should also work on keeping your racket up a bit higher so your opponent has less time to recover from their last shot, as you tend to have a habit of keeping your racket quite low.
@BadmintonwithJeffrey
@BadmintonwithJeffrey 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah this is a bad habit of mine too 😅 I wonder why most professional singles players have their racket low too? I feel like there has to be a reason
@nabir84
@nabir84 5 жыл бұрын
@@BadmintonwithJeffrey I think that most professional players have the option to keep their racket low because, firstly they're quick and secondly, different levels requires different skills and maybe they sometimes keep their racket low because they want to condition their opponent to a certain pace, so then they have the option to suprise their opponents.
