Jem (Aubrey Peeples) watches Synergy's holographic video message from her dad (Barnaby Carpenter).
FILM DESCRIPTION:
A small-town teen (Aubrey Peeples) goes viral after a video of her singing is posted to the Internet. She and her sister's band are catapulted into global superstardom, but their newfound fame threatens to break apart their familial bonds when a record executive (Juliette Lewis) meddles in their affairs. This spirited musical fantasy directed by Jon M. Chu is adapted from the 1980s animated series Jem.

This scene gets me every time I watch it . I shed a few tears watching it . When he says “ never fear the unknown , create your own destiny and use your gifts to inspire people “ I thought it was so inspirational that I wrote them down and say them now to myself often and have them as a quote background on my phone

When we finally got to see an actual hologram in the movie! They should make the sequel like 5 years later. Older. Running starlight house. Synergy can be a part of a bigger hidden synergy at a drive-in theater. Make it Jem Vs The Misfits. It could work if this movie was seen as an intro or prequel. Sadly this film bombed hard. I mean hard. I mean the worst major opening movie of all time. I looked it up.

I'm a little embarrassed that I know this... but not so much. Based on the TV series; Jerrica and Kimber's mother was the reason Starlight Music even existed. Their mother, Jacqui Benton was a singer/musician. The money she earned built and maintained Starlight Foundation. While on tour, the plane Jacqui was on crashed, killing her. Jerrica and Kimber were quite young, possibly in their early teens when this happened.

I've been re-watching episodes of the cartoon lately, and the movie really stripped out its identity. Apparently Jem creator Christy Marx was pushed out of having any input besides a cameo, so there's the first problem.
