In today's video I'll be showing you the inner workings of a category of DPSS Lasers called " Thin-Disk ", which is a JenLas D2.3 manufactured by Jenoptik Instead of a pass through gain medium, such as in traditional DPSS Lasers these use a gain medium that acts as a reflective optic. While this is a simplification of the actual optical process ( explained more in the video ) it shares a lot of the architecture of optically pumped semiconductor Lasers. These Lasers contain a Yb:YAG disk that converts 808nm Laser light into 1064nm. Many of these types use a pump diode in the 900-950nm range, however the spectrometer says 808nm is used in the JenLas D2.3 surprisingly enough. Not only will the inner workings be discussed, I'll also go over the optical adjustment points for alignment and the basic electrical connections and requirements needed to run this Laser head.
