I've seen other interviews Jenna did after publishing her book. You can tell that some of the topics brought up are very difficult for her to discuss. I applaud her bravery in speaking out and hope that her message finds its way not only to detractors of the "church" and the general public, but also to others who are going through the same experiences she did.

Scientology for celebrities such as Tom Cruise and John Travolta is a completely different experience than it is for an average person. The more money you have, the more pleasant it is. If you're broke, they will drag the last dollar out of you, If you are a millionaire and powerful they make it like Disneyland for you. I mean look at Tom Cruise, they got him every woman he wanted. They called in Scarlett Johanson so he could decide whether or not to marry her.

You can call me 'Reverend Doctor' When you say that Scientology is not so different than any other religion, I think you might be a little wrong. The fact is that Scientology is way out different from any other religion. For starters Scientology IS NOT a religion. It is a manipulative organization which sole purpose is to obtain lots of money. You can be a muslim, Christian, Buddhist if you only have dirt on you. You are not going to be sent to mop the floors with your tongue if you commit a sin. And they are not going to harass you if you leave the church.

The parents have to be blamed for sure. IF the organisation has a policy of restricting parental contact to the rediculous little amount she received, the organisation has to be blamed. I have no idea if the organisation purposely directly restricts parental contact to that little amount she received.

If they follow people who leave, it would have to be a select few. From what I understand, the vast majority(like 5/6) of those that have joined the Sea Org since it's inception have now either routed out or blown. They couldn't possibly have resources to stalk most of those. As for why you would pay for a religion, I'll say this: If the church actually delivered what they promised, clear/OT would be heavily UNDER-priced. In my eyes, the CoS' biggest crime is false marketing.

I know many scientologists and a few sea org members, I've met my share of ex-sea org members as well. The sea org really isn't for everyone and no one ever said it was.

They had to read the church's statements to avoid lawsuit because the church takes anyone to court who says bad stuff about them.

They have no reason to have a military structure. It's worth noting that children of the military are not segregated in camps and separated from all family. As far as I know they're not hauling rock and building their own "ranch" either. And to say that anyone is free to leave at any time is rather disingenuous, that applied double for children.

No, she didn't pick those issues out. She mentioned them alongside other things. She mentioned several things and you picked out only "rake leaves and spruce up the grounds". Again, with "picking out" in this case i mean you focussing on minor things within the whole picture she mentioned. About the other points: Look we have completely different moral standards. I believe that trying to break up someone else's marriage and threathening not to be able to see your family is not a good thing.

Why the heck is a Creationist interviewing an ExScientologist!?!?!

I was curious to see who was absent on the View panel: Barbara - she has friends involved in scientology, and the blonde one that was on survivor.

I couldn't tell you anything about quality of the education at her particular school(and something tells me you couldn't either), but as for the debt, it's not really true. Freeloader's debt isn't legally enforceable so you wouldn't actually owe anyone anything. Hence, the people that pay it do it because they want to. Perhaps because they feel a moral obligation, if nothing else. I also personally know several people that have left the sea org. None of them are currently being stalked.

The problem is that a four year old doesn't have much to say about that.

If they were 'employers' instead of a 'religion', they would be subject to labor laws defining the work day/week.

I guess the question is: Is sending your kids to boarding school being a bad parent? I can't speak to that. Maybe.

As for the parental contact thing: Personally, I think sea org members seem to make lousy parents. But that always HAS to be the parents responsibility. Blaming the organization itself for that seems ridiculous. If someone outside had a job that required them to work all the time and seldom see their kids, would you blame the parents or would you blame their sodding employer?

stun? Sometimes I wish I had a TV, just so I could capture The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. I cannot for the life of me capture those snippets - on my computer - let alone an entire show. (Which the advertizers have already paid for.) I don't know what stun means. Do DVRs edit out commercials, somehow? Because gosh I've got it wrong so many times, believing I was a good musician. When, I wasn't. 🤔

It would be more reasonable to equate it to other military style organizations that have the same sexual rules. When you go to war, you can't have half your platoon distracted by triangle dramas, jealousies and other "2D" problems resulting from all the flimsy sex-based relationships that are forming all over the place. This is why the US military didn't admit gays for the longest time. It wasn't just to be mean.

That's because often times the crimes go unchecked. There isn't a single person in politics where that ranch is located that isn't a member of the church. Scientology seems to have some isuess in the leadership movement. Which shouldn't come as a big surprise at all. Take a look at EVERy religion and you'll find simular problems. You'll find problems in governments, institutions etc etc. Nothing is flawless. Now some people may find christianity helpfull. Some may find Islam helpfull and some may find scientology helpfull. Just as some people may not find any religion helpfull not only that but they may find whatever religion it may be nothing more but pure shit and a waste of time.
