***** Yes, I would be camera shy too, but It didn't seem to me that she was overly nervous about being on TV. It looked more like the issue being discussed is what brought up her anxiety level, likely because she had to relive those memories while talking about them.

I remember Jenna when she was still very young in her early teens at the Flag Land Base. I thought she seemed very distraught and sad a lot. I know she is telling the truth. I was a Sea Org member and I too left Scientology not because the materials weren't good but because of the evil way you are treated. Dehumanized, invalidated, your civil and human rights violated because Hubbard and Miscavige believe (seriously) they are above the law. Per Hubbards "Fair Game" policy any one deemed an enemy of the church can be lied to,deceived and destroyed. The church lies and says it doesn't apply that any more and it was "canceled" but it most definitely is applied.

This IS nothing more than a twisted, evil cult. Years ago in Toronto my friend & I were walking down Yonge st. My friend & I were approached just outside of the Scientology store/building & asked if we would do a survey, we said "sure". Well this "survey" was about 200 questions long! After we completed it, the guy asked us if we needed jobs. We said "yes". The guy ushers us into their building beside the store to go have an interview. They made us work for free stuffing envelopes for quite some time. We were both in our early 20's & thought this sucks let's get out of here. We felt so uncomfortable in saying that we wanted to just leave. We both lied & said we needed to go to bathroom. We were just going to get the heck out of there! On the way to the bathroom we found a staircase & thought "yes! Freedom!", Boy were we wrong. We ran down the stairs trying to get out but every door on each floor was locked. We went back & told them that we really had to get home. We lied & said yes we would come join their organization. They had our names & addresses. Of course we NEVER went back there again. They harassed the both of us for MANY YEARS sending us letters & pamphlets. I remember one pamphlet in particular which said to go to page 17 which read "You should do what you say you are going to do". How do people fall for their crap?!?!? Even as young as we were we knew that this place was BAD NEWS!!!

This was before there was much public awareness on what Scientology actually was but even then that place made me shudder. Just didn’t seem right, nor did the people trying to stop you on the street. I look back now and realize they were very robotic, that’s what seemed off. I don’t blame them though, they were just the brainwashed slave labour.

Kevin Solo I thought that too. And then I read an investigative report by the FBI which essentially claims that their hands were tied because in the end the majority of these people want to be there. So they are there by their own volition because they are brainwashed into thinking that what they're doing is good. If you have a chance, well, if you haven't already watch the movie going clear about scientology. In the movie some of the people recount a game called musical chairs played by David miscavige Wear the people that couldn't find a chair at the end of the music we're essentially sent to this place called the hole. And these people were literally fighting tooth-and-nail and beating each other up these are high-ranking respectable executives that were essentially beating each other up so that they could stay inside of the organization. So I think that's been one of the major hurdles Buy these law enforcement agencies to really put their finger on a villain on One Singular Puppet Master if you will. Because these people are so brainwashed meticulously and successfully that they end up making themselves believe that they actually want.... To be there. Just my 2 cents sorry for rambling :-)

She had to sit still and not move a muscle for hours as a child a training exercise. She was physically restrained and not allowed to leave a room many times. She was yelled at, intimidated, and denigrated when she disagreed with anything. She was told that if she disagreed that means she had done something evil in her life and she was not allowed to leave her room until she confessed. This widespread practice in Scientology forces people to become liars in order to simply use the bathroom. When she was allowed to see her parents as a child it was usually very late at night for only a few minutes when she was exhausted.

+evidencebased1 if he truly read the book he should have been more surprised on 1-how you must pay to learn anything about it 2-how much $$ it costs to remain in the religion over a set time or if it's truly possible to advance up the levels without handing over vast sums 3-how this faith can forcefully break apart families or lifestyles like no other,entrapping people by threatening to spill their past history or worst personal details to the media, initially found out through 'e-meter' crude lie detector auditing. 4-their history of concentration camps or work camps over the many years as mentioned 5-the stalking methods that they use on journalists to scare 6-the door to door 'squirrel busters', and other members in black suits and sunglasses (a la The Matrix) that attempt similar, to worry anyone that is deemed a threat to scientology (wiki up 'Fair Game'), ie ex-members spilling any supposed truth 7-the fact that these 'squirrel busters' continue to stalk you with cameras on their head, even if you are also recording them at the same time, in a bid to hand over to the police the next day (hoping that they aren't avid scientology members themselves of course) 8-the idea of scientology trying to obtain as many people of it's own into high rank government or high ranking council positions in a bid to essentially take over a town 9-how well suited scientology is to a horror science fiction movie, and how coincidental it is, that the religions original creator, was a science fiction author 10-how those finding out 'the ultimate truth' at scientology's highest level.. don't manage to faint or laugh
@RovingRoninEDC8 жыл бұрын
+evidencebased1 then again, Christian Churches, with the exception of some evangelical Christian churches, don't require a contract for their members. I suppose however when your resentment and intolerance of Christianity runs so deep that you can't fight the compulsion to ridicule it, it probably doesn't seem that way. I know a great number of Christians who think for themselves and regard their faith as a private matter. I also know a lot of atheists like you who spout the atheist party line and then try to convince others that you actually think for yourself. You think Christianity is a collection of brain washed people who look to spread thier beliefs and I view atheists like you as more evangelical then most Christians. For a collection of people who believe in nothing, its odd how much atheist preaching goes on these days. For a group of people who the words faith, loyalty and belief means nothing, its odd that people of faith offend you so much. Scientology was established, in the words L. Ron Hubbard, as a "Sanctuary for tax exemption". As of 2015, not a single member of Scientology can produce a single document showing any money donated to a legimate charity. Can the same be said Christian churches? Last time I.checked, there is no group of atheists who show charity towards those less fortunate either.
@RovingRoninEDC8 жыл бұрын
+evidencebased1 and let's be honest, you weren't raised an atheist and didn't become one because of you formed your own views without outside influence. You became an atheist because you read a book or met someone who imposed thier views which you accepted..... That's the same exact way people become Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus etc. That being said, you may want to rethink your use of the word hypocrisy because it's a label that fits you as well.

***** Not exactly banned but in Germany it "occupies a precarious legal, social and cultural position. German courts have so far not resolved whether Scientology should be accorded the legal status of a religious or worldview community, and different courts have reached contradictory conclusions. The German domestic intelligence service has monitored the organization's activities. The German government does not recognize Scientology as a religion. It views it as an abusive business masquerading as a religion and believes that it pursues political goals that conflict with the values enshrined in the German constitution. Scientologists in Germany face specific political and economic restrictions. They are barred from membership in some major political parties, and businesses and other employers use so-called "sect filters" to expose a prospective business partner's or employee's association with the organization. German federal and state interior ministers started a process aimed at banning Scientology in late 2007, but abandoned the initiative a year later, finding insufficient legal grounds. Despite this, polls suggest that most Germans favor banning Scientology altogether."

Tom Cruise and John Travolta are both gay.There is nothing wrong with that - many successful actors are gay and lesbian. Lots of them are open about their sexuality. The trouble is that Travolta and Cruise can't admit it as they would lose a large part of their film-going audience (goodness knows why, what does it really matter). However the Church of Scientology has proof of this and is blackmailing them. The Church of Scientology is a highly organised and successful cult. It is banned as a cult in Germany and soon to be banned in the UK. It should be banned in the US, but I'm pretty positive that will never happen.

What they should mention is their belief that children are billion year old beings who they expect to have the same responsibilities as adults. I think it will help people to understand the reason why children are forced into hard labor. Children to them are like star travelers who have lived billions of years and before a certain age they still hold all of the information of the universe. Look it up yourself. I'm going off some things I read a few days ago but that's basically the jist of it.

Well of course Tom Cruise is going to sing praises of this cult. Celebrities have enormous egos, and this cult caters to those egos. That's why each one has their own church and all the little perks that the ordinary drones don't have. They can't keep celebrities out of the public eye, so they're going to make sure that they're happy, thus making them the perfect representatives. If you understand what characteristics define a cult, then you know everything you need to know about Scientology.

About 20 years ago I did a course with Scientology. The took all my money. Audited me for weeks and when I left they bombarded me for 15 years with mail and calls. One day I went into their offices in Dublin and told them that if I heard from them again I would not be pleased. Mind you I had one of them face down across his desk at the time. He was only a skinny little stick. [I had no intention of hurting him and I am big and can be scary] Funny thing was I never heard from them again.

Humans are deceived because they are looking for something, a purpose, a leader to follow. Just like any cult, cults start by false prophets with their own theories and lies. The is why God in Jesus Christ said this "For FALSE PROPHETS AND FALSE MESSIAHS, will appear and perform great signs and wonders to DECEIVE, if possible, even the elect."; "and MANY FALSE PROFITS will appear and LEAD MANY ASTRY." Matthew 24:24;11, 1 JOHN 4:1. "But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their sensuality and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. And in their GREED THEY WILL EXPLORE YOU WITH FALSE WORDS. THEIR CONDEMNATION FROM LONG AGO IS NOT IDLE AND THEIR DESTRUCTIVE IS NOT ASLEEP." 2 Peter 2:1-3. The only truth can be found in the creator of all things, Jesus Christ, "I AM THE WAY AND THE TRUTH AND THE LIFT. NO ONE GOES TO THE FATHER, EXCEPT THROUGH ME." JOHN 14:6. "Repent, then, and turn to the living God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshment may come from the Lord." Acts 3:19

@keepingamericagreatagain92299 жыл бұрын
Phil, every church could be a cult to anyone who give them alot of time and money and gets nothing in return IN THIS LIFE..I agree with you that Scientology is not alone in the religious mental abuse of people(talking people into giving them money for nothing)..but that could be argued for about anything people give money to..political causes,politicians,churches,charities(telemarketing charities are the worst, but even the ones they give what little they give to are the same(it's going to people that work there, not the cause))..I believe in the true church in which everyone gets back what they put in via stock market returns..Acts 2 says they all got back each according to their need..If I ran a church I'd invest the $ and then make them all richer..but even then I'd probably take more for me since it was my idea and all..so men are just plain corrupt(and women) except for some people are really good and naive and wouldn't care about getting taken.

Doesn't sound any different than kids who grew up with hardcore fundamentalist Christian families. There are many instances in the major religions of the same kind of treatment, this does not sound like labor camps. Other religions could also be considered "cultish," in their own way. I've met and grown up with evangelical and hardcore Christians that came off creepy, overbearing and just plain annoying, I've never met a scientologist that came off this way. I don't stand out and speak against Christianity, but in my personal experience this is what I've encountered. So in my experience I would say that regardless of where you stand, there are good and bad things with every religion. I don't plan to ever be a scientologist, but badmouthing the crap out of it, isn't going to do me any good in my life. I look at it this way, a scientologist has never tried to convert me, I've never been confronted with it, no scientologist has affected my life in any way. I personally have no experience with the religion. What negative views I have or don't have, have all been formed by things I've seen on youtube, much like all of us... People can say Tom Cruise is crazy, blah, blah, etc. etc. The fact is if it makes him happy and he feels it helped him, why do people care to take time out of their day to criticize? You would be better off taking your time to put into your own life and making 'that' situation better. How people achieve happiness is their right, and if it does them good, more power to them. I expect that 99.9% of people commenting about scientology online have absolutely no personal experience with the religion, so essentially, you really don't know what you speak of. Call it a cult, dangerous, evil, whatever, any religion can be looked at in that light. People would be best served taking more time to educate themselves, and finding their own happiness and success first, before they degrade the path that others have taken.

Roger, one difference...Legitimate churches do not make one sign a billion year contract. If one wants to leave, he/she walks out. Also, although people donate 10-15% to their church; one isn't made to hand their entire check/property to their pastor/minister/priest.

Dan Dared Yes, maybe. I am starting to wonder at those stories. I also wondering at the other side of the coin: e.g. the immense amount of money raised by the Catholic church and given to 'the poor' of the world. Suddenly, there are stories about the Catholic Church being evil. Almost like it was a bad publicity campaign. Take any organisation, you will find something wrong. But some organisations are all wrong: e.g. Scientology, Islam, the mainstream media. Are you a Scientologist?

And that is an excellent line of thinking - that "when people are assaulted they're are usually police reports". When Marty Rathbun and Mike Rinder, former high ranking ex-members, reported David Miscavige's violence, Scientology spokesperson Tommy Davis said it was Marty Rathbun that was the violent one. Yet, they did not call the police on him, nor file the report. It makes more sense for nobody to call the police on Miscavige, but NOT for Scientology to NOT call the police on Marty.

This is the quick definition of the mindset within a cult: (no personal choice allowed): 1) subjugation under stress and fatigue 2) Social disruption, isolation and pressure 3) Self criticism and humiliation 4) Fear, anxiety and paranoia 5) Control of information 6) Escalating commitment 7) Use of auto-hypnosis to induce 'peak' experiences 8) Pay to play path to enlightenment Real religions bring families together. Cults force them apart for control.
